I wrote this song thinking it would never come out and I was completely okay with that. Once I played it for my boyfriend, I felt like it had served it's purpose. I was scared to let it live beyond the reach of our ears.
It's very vulnerable for me to share my feelings about my relationship this openly. It feels weird letting people know how I feel about such a personal matter but I realized that this song could connect a lot of couples or reach those wishing to fall in love. I wanted to describe how I was being treated and how safe I felt for those wondering if they're in a good situation or not and also for those wondering if love even exists.
A lot of times in my life I've turned on love songs searching for hope or an example to look up to but I
just hear people describing having strong feelings for a person and not giving good reasons as to why they have those feelings. Feelings based on no solid action of respect, love or kindness do not mean anything to me. That's just attraction and attraction can coexist with dishonesty, pain, betrayal and confusion. I didn't want to leave any questions as to whether or not this was for real. I truly feel the benefits of the kind of situation I'm in and I wanted to share that with the world in a way that could be an example for people like me four years ago. People who believe that love truly is a lie. I used to think that about myself and every couple I saw but I can say now that it is, in fact, not true. I hope this song can bring you a little hope if you're still in that mindset OR help you celebrate if you've made it to the other side with a true and solid partner.
Btw I highly recommend it for wedding montages and engagement videos hahaha. Its a vibe.
