Huel Nutrition Bars: A Normal Person's Review

Huel Nutrition Bars seem like a great idea, a handy quick, nutritious snack, but are they as good as they seem - how do they taste, are huel snack bars nice? I tried all 6 flavours from the selection box to see if they were worth buying, and what purpose they might serve.

HUEL- “It’s not tasty but it’s edible” thank you for your honest and entertaining review! I’m starting a Huel 28 day challenge during February hopefully going to drop from my 23st 8lbs. Let’s hope Huel and starting the gym is sustainable and can work for me. Once again thank you!

I ordered a selection box and peanut butter box. Think my faves are chocolate, raspberry and white choc and peanut butter. None are great but I tell you what they're better than: every other quick 'snack' that I grab in a rush (most of which are so unfulfilling they invariably lead to me pigging out then feeling gross). Defo found the chocolate eaten slowly feels more of a treat as you get the odd bit of choc. But ultimately I'm getting good things, nutrition, vitamins, and only 200 calories. And there is a benefit psychologically I believe to the mastication rather than just constantly drinking blended food. Also - Really enjoying all your huel reviews thanks!

I think I'll try these next time I order. With the way I'm eating the black bars will probably be sometime mid next year. I have used the black bars as an occasional replacement for lunch depending on how it fits & how I'm feeling. They're bloody amazing at keeping me full. I enjoy the density personally. Feels like I'm eating something substantial. Snack bar things never even touch the sides for me so they're never worth the calories. So thats a pretty big deal for me.

I think they’re deffo better with a brew or bottle of water Without the guilt of having a biscuit or three or a choccy bat etc Are you gonna try the protein bar version, I hope so Keep up the good work as I think I’m gonna try it soon myself , thanx 👍🏻

I tried them a few months ago - I'd agree with you that they're not tasty - perhaps I'm too fussy but I found them basically inedible, they tasted like carboard, I couldn't detect flavour in any of them (I gave up after trying 3). I vaguely want to give the new black ones a go to see if they are any better, but I'm certainly not going to buy a box of them so I'll only do so if they offer them as individual bars.

I've just ordered a box of the black bars - there'll be a review soon, so hopefully you'll have some more infoimration before you need to spend your money. And yep, they're not tasty, but the more time I've spent with them, the more I've been realising their uses - I took some out on a long bike ride with me recently - about the same weight as a glucose gel, but definitely felt more satisfying - at that point, i didn't really care much about the taste, so it wasn't a negative. I don't think i'd ever turn to them as a snack though...

So I said basically the same things y'all said n the huel forums n everyone n there basically was like "it's just you". Apparently not. I KNEW something was off. The raspberry is the WORST. HATE, HATE, HATE IT!!! It's good for your nutrition. I felt better eating these as opposed to the junk I normally would n the only BARELY tolerable 1s were the pb n banana. Even then they all taste similar, bitter n were too hard. 🤦♂️ Fail for huel. Back to the drawing board. 🤦♂️

I couldn’t agree more. I am not generally too fussy about taste, but the bars are inedible to me. I bought an entire variety box, and I REALLY tried to enjoy them but I just couldn’t. I had to give them away because no matter how many times I went back and tried another one I literally struggled to choke it down. It wasn’t just that they didn’t taste like much, it’s that the taste that WAS there was horrible. I LOVE the Hot & Savory, and I’ve grown to really enjoy the standard v3.0 powder, and I don’t mind any of the ready-to-drink flavors that I’ve tried, but these are an absolute no-go for me. And, as you’ve said, there was almost no actual flavor differences between the different bars. I was really looking forward to having something that was Huel-based that was not just a drink (and not something I have to heat up). Maybe the Huel Black ones are better.

I replied to someone else already, but I will say that I bought a variety box of these as an add-on to one of my orders. I could not have been more disappointed lol. I hadn’t seen any reviews yet, so I wasn’t warned ahead of time. I tried so hard to like them, or even just be able to eat them, but they were genuinely inedible to me. I eventually had to put them out at work and let others try them/take them before they all expired. The flavor was offensive, and the amount of chewing gave me a headache (which I admit is a personal problem). Love Huel, hate this particular product.

i think my review probably reflects this attitude well. i found myself using them when there was no other obvious alternative - being able to leave in my bag as an emergency source of fuel, or taking on abike ride where they're so light it makes sense, but nope, I'd never just choose it as a snack...

I agree with you. You DO NOT eat these for pleasure. You eat them to fill a need. Now, what were your thoughts on the F1 race? ...or is that on a different video series of yours?

Maybe I should start that series - but in essence, i think the major player at fault is the FIA and Michael Masi - I think both main players had worked hard and raced well all season, and I would've supported either winner in a fair end, but that ending was a disgrace - completely unreasonable way to decide the champion - I do feel sorry for Vertsappen though - his first championship will always be tainted...

The bar is too tiny. One would need at least 2 bars for this to satiate as a snack, but then 2 at a time is way too expensive!

Yeah, I still have two flavors in the box that I have not tried yet, they are the worst health bars that I and those I let try them have ever tried. I am very disappointed, especially since I shared them with other people, not realizing that they were going to be terrible. They are also way too expensive, especially being only 200 calories instead of 400 like the rest of the Huel products line. Who ever was their taste testers should be fired.
