As a local the the area, I heard hobby slam was much bigger than what it looks like in the video. I'm kind of disappointed honestly, thought it would be as big as what people who went told me it was. Glad I didn't cancel my weekend just to go out there. Edit: I've done some deals with the tall guy in the blue shirt, he's a nice dude, tries to work with you if he can. But the guy with the neck tattoo always lowballs the hell out of people in West palm beach shows and overprices his stuff higher than comps. Just from my experience of watching him try to buy cards at shows.

it was a huge show. I was a vendor there and Friday and Saturday had so much traffic. Of course Sunday that dies, but the show was a success and has been for the past 3 years

80% - 85% is not the standard. Good for that guy on standing his ground at 90%. That’s more than fair.

Why would he buy all that at 90% to MAYBE make 5% margins? And that assumes comps stay where they are.

@@nolanchamberland4752 What the buyer does with the cards after he purchases them is not the dealer’s concern. As a dealer myself, I constantly have to tell this to buyers, namely repackers, trying to make money flipping my cards. I still get people to buy my cards with a small discount, rather than give in to the percentage of comps thing.

As a dealer myself, I am constantly telling that to buyers, namely repackers, looking to make money on my cards. I still get buyers for my cards and I don’t have to give in to the percentage of comps thing.

Offers to pay 84% on a bulk deal and the guy says “you’re not trying to make a deal with that offer.” the hobby in a dark place.

I’ve seen it happen more and more at shows. Dealers are not budging below 90%, bulk or single. Too much competition. I’ve been finding success selling at 95% on singles and 90% bulk and the trend seems to be working well.
