This shows you that these books are not rare.. unlike so many KZfaqrs and whatnoters say. They printed millions of these books in the 90’s. I just went to Ollie’s discount… they had Jim Lee’s X-Men #1… all 4 different covers bundled into groups for sale for $4.99…. They had hundreds of these bundles.

3:00 As someone who had a store in the 90s this isn't how comics came to retail stores. It's not much different than today. What this looks like is one of the investors in the 90s. They would buy 10 of a book and put them in bags just like this collection. This is totally a 90s investor's collection.

I agree, I also had a comic shop in the 90's. Bagging them together was for easy trade with other dealers and the poor souls who thought they would make money from them in the future lol I remember dealers having stacks of X-Men 1 up to their knees, so many #1's you could probably fill the Grand Canyon.

He basically has a worthless collection now. you need to keep those keys with the collection to have any selling power. This was a 14 year old kid who had no clue as to the worth he's holding. He just wants to get rid of the books to collectors and knows that people will paw through it and cherry pick. I mean, Image books are so prevalent I'm finding almost entire runs in my LCS' 50 cent bins. Well, if nothing else, the kid is learning that it takes time to move large collections of filler. Good luck to him!

Wow, when I saw the boxes (all beat up and stained) I thought this must be an older collection, then all I see are 90's books. Would be a great collection for someone who owns a store and needs to fill spaces in their bin stock. I don't believe selling them at a con would be advantageous, he would need to sell all of them to make any kind of profit given what tables cost at these cons, best bet would be a garage sale, flea market or a local comic show where it is cheaper to be a vendor. separate them into $1, $2 & $5 (if there are any) boxes.

As a KZfaq channel comic book community builder..should you not have paid the seller (teenager) something closer to 30% of market value? Especially, on the multiple comic copies you grabbed, where I can only assume your goal is to resell? Was the purpose of this particular video to showcase how a grown man took advantage of a teenager because that is what it ended up being in my opinion. This is how adult resellers are killing the next generation of comic collectors and/or comic investors, by taking advantage of them. Don't get me wrong, resellers or collectors should never have to help sellers to their money, but in my opinion, as a KZfaq channel comic book community builder and as an adult dealing with a minor, you do have somewhat of a responsibility to do the right thing. Just my 2 cents

You touched on it a little bit but it's something which I see often when it comes to this era of comics. There are HORDES of these books out there, most of which haven't seen the light of day. There should be no book from this era even worth cover price, period. For all the Spawn, Venom, whatever issues, from any of the major publishers, these things were printed in the 100's of thousands or millions of copies, never read, stored away. Every time I see some 9.8 wahoo pay some ridiculous price for a Spawn #1, I just slap my head. The day that issue went on sale, I was at a comic shop in Chicago and they had ordered/received some stupid number of copies, 10's of thousands. At that one shop I bet they sold more copies of Spawn #1 than there are current collectors. Why anyone would pay anything for that comic today is beyond me. And that goes for everything else sold for about a 10 year period. The only people who think these issues are "worth" anything, are the ones sitting on a 100 copies. This is a second wave of speculators, the first being the initial buyers of these books 30 years ago, who are going to get burned I'm afraid.

They overprinted almost every collectable in the late 80s/early 90s. Sports cards as well. If you see a whole room full of 1991 Fleer Baseball cards, the boxes used to hold those cards are worth more than the cards in the boxes. Its a cycle. Companies start out printing small runs until their product becomes super popular then they have the money to over print everything. If you are an investor in collectables as I am, it is your job to hunt the rare. Rarity + Popularity = gold. If you have something that isn't rare, then everyone will always be able to get it for cheap. If you have something that isn't popular, then even if it is rare, there still has to be enough interest for people to buy it. I've had super underground vinyl LPs that only 5 exist in the entire world. Problem? About that many people knew who the band was lol. Good luck trying to get good money from it. Your job is to find super popular items that very few were made. It's hard. That's why it's a treasure hunt!

Secondly, with thousands and thousands of books to go thru, it was pretty disappointing to hear you focus on what you didnt find. Or talk about books you felt "SHOULD'VE" been there.
