Around 6:50 a officer threatens a citizen with arrest for disturbing the peace, which by law. She can not be the complaintive. A private citizen has to claim a damage by the loud noise to their business. Then there is the 1st amendment. Which allows you to assemble peacefully. This could be musical or political musical views. Expression without complaint is why we are free in the country. This lady needs to make a public apology or be reviewed by the local DA

She was high on her authority, that as it turns out didn't have the law on her side. Unfortunate indeed. I cringed when she responded like that and of the many officers I know none would have behaved that way or chosen to error on the side of throwing their weight around on crowd that was really quite tame. Who did she think she was benefiting by responding that way? Certainly not herself or the public perception of Sarasota police. If her department is anything less that a complete s_thole she is in for a reaming and some training time. Public perception matters more today than ever for officers. Your department funding, tools etc comes from tax dollars that can be effected by that negative perception. While any public employee hatesto have someone go all "my taxes pay your wage....." It is important to remember that when you could piss off a lot of people at who's pleasure you serve. We need police, and we need them to have good funding and tools to do a good job of keeping the community safe and stable for business and the economy to be stable and dependable. It's real easy for people to loose site of that when officers act like their power comes from dint of birth or something.

A cop had to answer the call and intervene, but he actually sat back and listened for a while first lol! In fact, he told us if we would turn it down even a little (we weren't playing very loud anyway), he would go back and tell the cranky neighbor that there was nothing more he could do. But we shut it down anyway. No point making enemies, y'know?
