What is the most fascinating creature you've ever encountered in a tidepool or similar marine environment, and what did you learn from the experience?

Thanks for the kind words Andrew! That means a lot. I always try my best to prioritize the experience of our adventures over anything else, which makes the editing process more challenging. But in a fun type of way. I’ve really enjoyed this channel as a creative outlet from my day to day. Thanks again!

great video! The most fascinating creature I've encountered was a clown nudibranch in a marina which I then kept in a local reef tank

Thanks for sharing Jake! Nudibranchs are such cool creatures and are especially mesmerizing when seeing them swim. That would definitely be a memorable experience!

Thanks for reaching out Tango. I’m curious if you would not handle an animal from an ethical standpoint, out of fear, or another reason? Personally, I’m a professional biologist and have a lot of interest, respect, and experience interacting and handling wild animals. And while I think it’s good practice to just view them from a distance (most dependent on the species and risk for them or me), ethically speaking I am generally supportive of it if it doesn’t harm the animals and provides an opportunity to educate others. I’m under the belief that no person will protect or respect what they don’t know or have a relationship with. Cheers and thanks for sparking the conversation!

Not a good idea putting your hand in crevasses of rocky tide pools.

Yes, you can say that again! Lesson learned and I hope anyone else seeing this learns from my mistake. I pulling out a thick splinter tip from my finger, not sure if it was the tip of a sea urchin spine or what?!? Thanks for the advice!

@@BackyardBiologyBoys I worry when I see kids walking in the tide pools for that reason...but it's part of growing up in the outdoors.
