@5500Chris Chris, correct me if I'm not mistaken, but the RH400 needs to be a face shovel and needs it's large size to plow into majorly thick overburden. The RH400 is used for certain applications. It is still a quite legit machine in the industry. The Liebherr is indeed a formidable machine as is the Komatsu PC8000. Anything above the monsters I just mentioned you need a rope shovel which come in at over 1400t for the larger ones.

@MARCOMROMANIA - here in Sweden we have two PC5500-6 front shovels. And I have heard a rumor about a mine in Spain that is about to buy a PC8000, although its only a rumor.

Harry Stamper, one of the last remaining PC8000 Komatsu Excavator operators in the world, is suddenly contacted by NASA. They tell him a dangerous Kaiju has appeared off the coast of Boston, but luckily NASA has a Gundam machine to fight it. They also have a team ready to go but they need an expert in massive excavator operation to help pilot the damn thing. Harry agrees to help, but only on one condition... he gets to pick the team. *ATLANTIC RIM*

@MARCOMROMANIA thereare machines of this size in europe i kno of atleast 2 in scotland
@jasonv250015 жыл бұрын
The 5110 is in a completely different size class to a Komatsu PC8000/Liebherr 996, and has no where near as big an engine thats in these, plus these have two engines as opposed to the single (3512?) in a 5110

pity the rh400/ cat6090 doesnt come in backhoe, that would make it a more flexible choice for mining companies who want the big bucket machine. i dont know which is stronger, the face shovel or the backhoe. Depends on the job i suppose...

you realise how big they are then the bulldozer next to them looks like a stone..

Considering the fact that the pc8000 has 2 x 1450 kW electric motors needing power at 6600 V to use batteries would be totally counter-productive. Can you imagine the size of the battery bank needed or solar farm? And if you just used a recharging truck with diesel genseet onboard why not just get the diesel drive version? A power cable may have its drawbacks but it is the best solution found yet
@judderman3713 жыл бұрын
You would think, with todays tecnology that the trailing electric cable would be done away with and replaced by banks of batteries. Makes the machine more flexible moving between jobs and when the power supply drops below a certain level, an automatic signal goes out to a "Recharging" truck which comes along with a generator on the back, plugging into the machine as its still working, giving the batteries a topping up! Or in sunny countries, solar panel feilds to power their fleet of E-diggers?

@5500Chris I humbly disagree on this. Overall size of machine does count. The Terex RH400 has to deal with very heavy overburden for the type of mining it needs to do thus it's 1078 tonnes in weight.

Ther will be 2 of these in Bessemer Alabama in a few weeks.

@ExcavatorR9800 im guess they use back hoes for digging down, and front shovel for digging up.

I agree the machine would not move much quicker but this operator doesn't have a good loading technique - should be get truck in on 45 degree angle and swinging in thru rear of truck and not backing truck in over all those rocks and crap.
