Minecraft 1.21 gets closer with the first Minecraft 1.20.5 pre release!! Today we have a huge change (or bug) to how the wind burst enchantment works, new trial chambers to look at, changes to the 1.21 mob effects, and more! This is everything in Minecraft 1.20.5 pre release 1.

The worst part is that you can still kill people just as easily with the maze, this change just made the cool mechanich of the enchantment more situational and not that useful anymore. I highly doubt that the guy who sent the complain actually tried this on a serious pvp battle cuz you wouldn't be able to spam windburst on a player with a functional keyboard.

Admittedly the wind burst working whilst you stand on the floor kinda defeated the point of having to fall to do loads of damage but it was fun

@@the_phantom_cat7912 It is by no means "completely useless" all you need to do is land a falling hit and then repeat. You can still combo people repeatedly in the air with it, just not by starting stationary

I also think it was a bit irritating that Wind Burst exploded you into the air every time you did a simple melee attack, which made me sort of not want to put it on my mace. It’s much better that it’s limited to a fall attack.

wind burst enchant changes are listed in the bug fixes section. seemingly it was never meant to work unless you land a falling attack which admittedly does make more sense

Make it work on a 2 block jump, that way leaping 2 beacons and potions have a use, making wind burst work 100% of the rime

I think it would be cooler to just buff Leaping effects of beacons and potions, give us more height. Plus, only needing to drop 2 blocks would be a bit overpowered.

I'm fine with the way that the mace is right now. It's definitely not as fun as before, but it does make sure it doesn't take away from swords and axes. Now, for direct fights, you go for your sword or axe, then switch to your mace when you find the opportunity or use the wind charge. It also makes sure there's still a use for wind charge doesn't get obsolete with the new enchantment and is a requirement for mace pvp.

It still takes away from swords and axes, breach 4 makes maces strictly superior to sharpness 5 netherite swords and axes. The change to wind burst in this snapshot literally just allows you to use a wind burst mace as a normal weapon. Before, wind burst always forced you up so it was impossible to use a mace as a normal weapon. All that's changed is that u use a wind charge for the first launch. "Mace ruined"? Bruh.

Wind Burst enchantment nerf seems justified for me, since previously you didn't need to use wind charges at all, because you could hit any mob in the face, jump up and hit again till it's dead, now the mace relies on consumables again, making it more balanced.

@@peterpumpkineater6928 Maces are better than netherite swords and axes without even needing to fall. Breach 4 maces kill full protection 4 netherite in 3 hits with strength 2, while sharpness 5 netherite swords/axes take 6 and 5 hits respectively. Maces are just better.

I like the wind burst change, it makes it so using it as an actual weapon or casualy doesnt send you flying everytime you want food or something, and it makes breeze ball combos valid again

I actually prefer how Wind Burst works now. Launching is the wind charge's thing, and falling is the Mace's thing. Let's not blur the line.

Agreed. I also found it a bit annoying that I couldn’t do a simple melee hit with a Wind Burst Mace without launching myself into the air. It’s much better, and more balanced, to be limited to a fall attack.

I think an evil feature the devs could add is if you infect a player with the infestation status effect they will not spawn silver fish that will attack the player who summoned them like a parent function where mobs spawned by the player don't attack the player and are basically tamed so you could sort of be this summoner class where the silverfish or slimes you spawn aggro on your attacker. evil for PVP great for PVE

The trial chambers keep getting cooler and cooler! I wonder if "Assembly" actually refers to the tall chamber with beds, where your team might "assemble" before venturing into the rest of the chambers. Also the mace kinda makes me sad, I wonder if there's another way to keep it from being as busted, but still as fun?

Controversial opinion: I think the wind burst enchant "fix" is a good thing, because I don’t like it that even if you don’t jump, the wind burst activates, it was very annoying and that’s how I die most of the time.

Imo the Wind Charge rework is better than before, i found annoying doing that wind jump everytime i used the mace and damaging myself back with the fall damage, so now if i wanted to do a wind charge combo i just have to take a bit of height 👍🏻

They should add a new enchantment called Updraft which pushes the player up after hitting a mob or a windcharge, make it incompatible with Wind Burst and make it so it cant be chained mid air

5:55 it should be a new copper block that is a spike trap instead. Gives another use to the awesome copper. Especially cuz dripstone wouldn’t match how trial dungeons look. Just my opinion.🙏🏿

About the mace nerf: Mojang put it under the fixed bug section in the changelog (MC-269980) so it doesn't look like it'll come back very easily. maybe enough of the community will protest against this change and they'll bring it back tho

HEY WATTLES. Apparently, how the mace was working BEFORE was a 2-tick related bug. It wasn't a nerf, it was ALWAYS meant to work this way. Hopefully that means we can convince the devs to change it.

Nah this is actually good, it was stupid that you could spam jump with the mace from the ground over and over again, it also made the wind burst completely useless in combat, now it actually takes skill to use wind burst

i would like the mace if it did damagw deending on fall damage. 24 blocks would kill an unarmed player. Density increases fall damage when holding. each level is plus 50% fall damage. Breach decreses armour by 1 armour bar per level. wind burst does the burst no matter what height. Love ur vids btw wattles

What about wind burst giving an increased area of effect to surrounding mobs? That way if you’re surrounded by mobs it can help you clear the area?

i dont think the mace change is bad. the whole gimmick is its better when you fall, not jump. you can still pogo, you just need to set it up rather the hit the space bar.

I don't think it was supposed to be like that here is the bug report MC-269980 - Wind Burst enchantment triggers from normal attacks rather than smash attacks. Although I loved the old version of wind burst.

We need the wind burst back. It's really op cuz it should. Wind burst is difficult to use but it is op if you know how to use it. Just cuz someone without it can't win a battle is the same as someone with a diamond sword not being able to beat someone with a netherite sword.
