If the leafs trade Marner to the Islanders for Dobson the leafs would be the ones to add more to the deal. Not the Islanders. Islanders would be losing the trade. Laine would be good in either of the teams currently playing for the cup but I think Pittsburgh would be a good fit. Also 🖕🍁

@@Somethingsomethingmorbid It's been eight years. Three GM's and three coaches, and endless free agents/signings has equated to one round. I think the answer is obvious. At this rate, a full rebuild will be undeniable. Likely why Matthew's only signed for 4 years. He knows.

July 1st, increase depth, roster balance, and size without sacrificing skill. Leafs have gaping holes at middle 6 center (to play with and keep up with Willie), top four right shot D man (to pay with and keep up with Rielly) and reliable back-up / starter goalie (for Woll). Wingers are ok, top 3 lines M, N, M, K, Y, C / other H, G, R, D, R, S. vs. centers, Matty, 35 year old Tavares / Kampf. Last year as a center 5’9 Domi was weak in his own end and 7 goals. What if there is a UFA 6’2 center the same age and speed, but two-way, pass-first but a good shot, with Bert’s money = C. Stephenson. Top playoff team’s defense all averaged over 6’2. R & L = 6’1, B & M = 6’2, so next D man should be 6’3 but still keep up with Rielly. UFA is same age as Rielly, clears the front of the net, uses his stick, and joins the rush, with Brodie’s money = B. Pesce. Paid back-up wages, reliable UFA goalie C. Talbot was playoff team LA’s starting goalie and at all star game.

Oh and the KHL. I bet someone will pay him to play in Antarctica like on his own, to entertain scientists and penguins. Maybe he can land a deal with Disney on Ice?? They like novelty things…he could show off his skills against all the other Disney characters

The media has already started to ease the fanbase into the reality, as they always do. And the fanbase drinks the koolaid, as they always do. Business as usual. If I was Ottawa I would not make a move for both Tanev brothers.Take a look at Winnipegs UFA s and RFAs.Demello,Brossoit,Dylan,Morgan Baron and Nino Nridereiter.A back up goalie,a top pairing right shot d man and a vet shutdown left shot,plus 2 left wings that are bigger and can play middle six,2nd to 3rd line.Then look at moving Norris to Chicago for Jason Dickinson,another middle six center.You can still make a move for Ullmark.

People are over valuing leaf’s return. He is a 1 year rental. He is going to UFA status. No one is going give up much for an $11 million salary cap hit with his playoff history. Leaf’s main return is $11 m in cap relief.

Ferris pushing Marner to market is way too risky. He's going to get what he'll get give or take some cash. He's not going to get 12.5 or 13 if he has a monster season, unless he wins the Conn Smythe which this guy couldn't even do in PS5

Great Video, as usual, Mike. I think that it's a good move to fire Pascal Vincent. He was the twin of John Tortorella, but, as you said, on strange decisions, including but not limited to the benching of players when he didn't have much to work with. Let me know what you think

Toronto’s choices are to sign him to a huge extension, walk him to UFA or perhaps, if Marner allows it, trade him for cents on the dollar. You aren’t getting a #1 dman like Dobson for him. That is laughably bad for the Islanders. And you think the Islanders would have to add? Marner’s trade value is not as much as you think due to the fact that Marner requires a UFA type extension in any event, and his acceptable teams is very limited, maybe as low as zero.

tanev replacing joseph wouldnt be any different of a player, and the other bro is way to old his best years are gone, why get stuck with another old man like hamonic, julien gauthier was with joseph and they were awesome in the penalty kill that year, then dorian replaces gauthier with mckewon who did nothing all year lol. we need a right winger to go with joseph, like sprong or stenlund, and there are a ton of real good right shot defense free agents, that are real good and younger

Dobson is a more valuable asset than Marner! You’re way off base in your assessment. Young right shot defenseman that’s ascending to be an all star. Marner is an undersized offensive forward that shrinks come playoff time. I would wager most GM’s would choose Dobson over Marner if they had to choose one. Dobson as a starting point in that trade? Ridiculous take.

Laniey return for CBJ isn’t going to be great either unless they retain a lot. You have someone making almost $9m that can’t stay on the ice. No one is going to pay a lot for that chance of a rehab unless it is cheap. Low cost with big possible reward.
