If you just change your reef tank to an algae tank you'd be killing it. LOL

Your nitrates and phosphates aren’t high. Some experienced stick heads are running much higher nutrients. I’m shooting for where you’re at actually. Sps is fairly hard to keep but, you’re on the right path. As far as Dino’s, it’s a shitty battle to be had. It took me a couple of months to get rid of. I tried quite a few things that people recommended. What cleared it for me is a 3 day complete black out. Uv didn’t work for me but most people will tell you to raise hour phosphates to get rid of them. That didn’t work for me either but it works for a lot of people. Moral to the story, I don’t think lowering nutrients is going to do much except help with the hair algae. Good luck bro. You got this!

Hey Gio, Not at all boring. Have Peter and Tommy ever run into the problem of different cure ideas? Even though your tank is going through a rough stage it is still awesome. The yellow tang is amazing, hope he doesn't get bullied. The pond outside is impressive. It's always so clear, those lilies are beautiful and the fish are striking. They are really starting to put on size. Sorry you are thinking about rehoming some of your pets, but with Luca and your growing business it must be trying. Remember compassion fatigue, it's a real thing.

@@GioLanni your awesome, and we appreciate you shearing. as a viewer who has kept freshwater longer than you've been alive, i think its good to see the reality of tank keeping and that it takes time and heartbreak -sometimes- to get tanks established. Its not a quick process like some make it out to be, keep up the good work and by the time Luca is running around the coral will be starting to find its place 🤗 If you still looking for a name to call us viewers, I'm not offended by lounge creep after a group of lizards and geckos, a group of lizards being a lounge and a group of geckos being a creep, just my thought, you and your family be well and i look forward to the next update 😊

Nutrients are fine....that bottle I wouldn't use....what I'd recommend is raising the nitrate ....to about 10-15 ppm and keep the po4 at the range you have now....that's absolutely perfect....the reason yoir getting dino is bc the nitrate and phosphate ratio needs to be 10:1 not 4:1 like you currently have....I recommend a 40 hour blackout and the addition of nitrate via the new tang being fed well or immediately using a product like neo nitro to raise it immediately and color up the acros before the rest starve out

Add a bigger cuc to your tank. It looks like you have astrina ( not sure on spelling) starfish on your glass. Those can mess with saps at times. A harlequin shrimp will clean those up quickly. You can make a diy fuge with a reactor and some string leds. That will help with your nutrients.

I would highly recommend getting an oversized UV filter, you can have it temporarily if you want but dino's spread by breaking up in the water column (usually at night). Additionally, I would not scrub your rocks, all you're doing is breaking the dinos into tiny tiny pieces that spread around the tank, best way I found is using your siphon when you do water changes to extract the dinos. Any algae issue is always a long term battle, just keep at it and hopefully you'll get on top of it sooner rather than later!

I just battled dinos and saw the best results from a uv sterilizer. If you go that route, you’ll have to keep it permanently most likely though. If that matters to you. I don’t think your nutrients are a problem tbh. I highly highly recommend you get a reefmat though. Will make your life easier and keep tank cleaner visually and in chemistry. Tank will get better soon, don’t stress it. Lastly, the most annoying thing, get into a weekly or biweekly water change routine.

You can lay down that thick coated wire that won't rust through and secure it to the wood all the way around the enclosure then throw down like 6 inch's of dirt and a couple more inch's of wood chips or mulch over that so it doesn't turn to mud in the rain. Or you can just use like 6 or 8 inch's of mulch and no dirt like Kenan recently whatever is cheaper dirt, woodchips or mulch

Good luck. I just got a yellow tang last week. I put him in a $12 lizard cage attached to the glass with a magnet. The purple tang wanted to kill him luckily he was protected. The scopas was somewhat of a jerk. The yellow tang is still in the cage. Just a thought if the other keeps acting up. The yellow is being ignored for the most part now. I think he will be in the cage for at least another week. When I move the cage to another location the purple tang comes at him again.

You should be around 15-20 nitrates. The reason everything is dying is because they are starving. Dose nitrates. Phosphate is spot on

That’s way too high for my liking! Everyone has there own ways of doing it but that would be more ideal for an LPS tank I’m running a heavy sps tank so my nitrates I want sitting at 5-10

algea, I've got stories to tell about that. And I only have a fresh water planted tank and it keeps biting me in the butt over and over again. Salt water must be an absolute nightmare to manage. My tank was running great for 2 years (finally after 3 attempts) then idiot me wanted to redo the plants, reducing some of the growth, placing some plants into other spots and now the algea have returned 😕 the plants won't grow as well as they did before and the algea are slowly taking over. It's so easy to trip the balance in a tank it's frustrating
