You know I think it’s awesome how you put the disclaimer about Santa and stockings and explained it like that. I have some little ears sleeping on the couch since he’s not feeling well and I’m glad I don’t need to try to explain that! Also loved the extras on the haul today! I wish my Aldi was closer

I bought flour and sugar yesterday at Wal-Mart. I was kicking myself because I didn't go to Aldi like I normally do for baking stuff. Well that was all for naught. They are the same price at Aldi as they are in Wal-Mart.

I'm the oldest of 8 kids and learned to cook "in bulk". Even after 30 years of marriage, I never really learned to downsize my cooking, even when it was just my husband and I. And now that it's just me, it's even worse. I've learned to just plan to freeze at least half of every dish I make. The bonus: having homemade food in my freezer for those days I just don't feel like cooking for just myself, which is way more often than I like to admit.

My 7 year old loves watching these grocery hauls with me-thank you for your Santa explanation with the stockings! :) also, got to love extra holiday shopping. I let my kids pick a treat or two out when I take them to the store around Xmas and realized last year they talk about how much they love December and picking out special treats. Good memories and worth it to me to save and splurge!

I love watching massive hauls like this! I don’t shop this way because I like to shop the sales and clearance items at the store each week, so they tend to be smaller hauls, but I save a lot of money that way. Also I’m missing all my ALDI favorites 😢. Maybe one day I’ll live near an ALDI again.
@semsem185

Probably depends on where you live. I tried doing week by week because everyone kept saying that you save more. That's not what happened for me. I spent way more than when I just do a bulk haul per month. The smaller amounts just cost me more.
@FrugalLifeThriftyWife

@@semsem185 I totally get that. It’s definitely different for everyone. That’s just what I’ve found that works best for my family 😊. I feel like it really depends on your household situation and dietary needs too.

I love your sweet spirit. I get frustrated sometimes when I hear people like yourself feel you have to reiterate that this is a “special” haul or explain how good your kid is that she deserves an advent calendar just because. Don’t explain that. Just buy for your kids and yourself and enjoy your moment.

Wonderfully thoughtful gift for your mom! The downsizing cooking struggle is real! I'm down to just me, still cooking for 5, so I wind up eating the same leftovers for 4 or 5 days! Gets a bit boring as you might imagine!🤣🤣🤣

When I first got married I cooked our dinner my husband said who is coming for dinner. I said just us, we’ll I came from cooking for my dad and 2 brothers. Who could eat. Big adjustment cooking for two. It has taken close to 20 years married for over 30 to cook just for us. Now I have 6 littles one who eats, one who picks as he is autistic so depends on the food 2 littles 3 and 4 but love their certain items and one baby I can’t feed other then a bottle. When we all get together grandma has to make everyone’s plates because it is better when grandma does it. I hear Em let me get your plate no grandma will. I guess it taste better when I do it and when she was younger 3 to 5 or 6 she would only eat what grandma ate.

So out to the “no more milk alternatives “ 7 Eleven owner , you’re helping me save so much moola. Thank you ! 🙌👍

Your gift for your mom is super thoughtful and I know she would love it. I know I would. We’re a family of 6 so I’m used to cooking large family meals. My older two moved out a few years ago and I struggled with cutting down my recipes. then COVID got me and my taste buds so what I cook I usually can’t eat but my younger two became teenagers and their appetites I swear doubled over night. My 15 yr old recently passed from cancer so now I’m cooking for pretty much two since my tastebuds limit me on what I can eat. We always have leftovers but it’s just been easier than trying to go fire out a smaller recipe

Eggs are $2.89 now per dozen. That was for the cage free ones which we don't normally buy. They were much cheaper than the regular eggs so that's what we got. We don't eat thek much with this i flation. We only make noodles and bake with them. Only if the best buy date is coming near do we eat them.

Mindy (for your mom!) I can say anything I'd made from One Dish Kitchen/Joanie Zisk has been good. She has a Cooking for 1 book but there are hundreds of recipes on her website and FB page. So when on sale I stock up who clearing the shelf and am able to wait until next sale by paying close attention to best by date. Haven’t had to do this but you can freeze eggs and use them as fresh for baking and scrambling…. It’s just me and hubby but my 9 grands are here frequently as well as my grown kids. I also do breakfast freezer meals for my sons family who has 2 public schooled children and my daughters family who has 7 kids and are homeschooled. 8:47 Aldi really does have some of the best breads and chocolates, in my opinion. We love their “Take and Bake” Italian Bread, and the Chocuer Chocolate bars. Of course the canned goods, crackers, dairy products, meats and pizzas are some other favorites. We’ve become real Aldi fans over the past two years. Our groceries get split between Aldi, Wal-Mart (only when we absolutely have a huge list that includes paper products and cleaning products), and Winn-Dixie ( which is less than a mile away and sometimes has good meat sales). Figuring out who has what at the least inexpensive price sometimes feels like spinning on Wheel of Fortune. These days, with high grocery prices, it’s easy to land on “Bankrupt” if you don’t plan ahead! 😬

I couldn't help but smile when you said "stroopwafels". The oo is pronounced like the o in low. Not like the oo in food. They are delicious, although I'm prejudiced as a Dutchie. I love your explanation for Santa stockings. I hadn't heard of that one before. In the Netherlands Santa Claus isn't much of a think, we've got Sinterklaas, Sint Nicholas, at december 5th, in which almost every kid until 7-8 years believes (with the famous question "do you know the secret of Sinterklaas?" which is how older kids and familymembers check whether the younger kids have figured it out yet). It was another lovely video, thanks.

Have you ever tried the s’mores Oreos? Probably seasonal and I’m not even a big Oreo fan!
