BBC come on you’re quite a well respected media creator. You don’t have to resort to click bait, you really don’t.

Mouse has a casual swim in the river while fisherman catches trout.

Non-native mouse is not eaten by the non-native trout which is released by the non-native fisherman.

Misleading title.

That fisherman could have had an easier time if he just used clickbait like everyone else these days...

I must confess I am disappointed not to have seen an oversized mouse that catches and eats trout.

I thought it was "massive mouse" eating trout... But it was a "massive, mouse-eating" trout. English.

This is like a little bit over engineered. Towards the end I was expecting Darth Maul to appear and fight Godzilla.

The introduced fish that eats the introduced mice, gets caught by the introduced fisherman.

Monster is a relative term. To a mice, a trout is a monster. We're just used to being the trout.

Oh come on ! The people who have watched this video were robbed. Stalking trout should of ate the real mouse. And to make things worse, that fisherman released a 28" beautiful trophy caliber monster trout. Just ridiculous.

This is like the second time within hours of stumbling upon another one of these videos, set in New Zealand. Part of me feels something is speaking to me, considering New Zealand is near the top of my list of places I should go if I ever decide/ manage to leave this country after COVID's over.

So we didn't see it eating a mouse, it was the art of fly fishing in New Zealand.

They do eat mice. Every so many years there is a natural bloom of mice in certain parts of NZ. They do swim, so the trout catch and eat them during these bloom years. There are often so many mice around that cats, glutted, ignore them.

The power of hyphens... On another note, I would've ate that trout. Not native, they're very aggressive predators, and once they get really big they don't breed either. Plus they're not native to New Zealand, and taste great.

Trout here can grow over 10kg not 5 and the cycle occurs every 5 or so years where fruit baring trees produce excessive amounts of fruit which drop on the forest floor. NZ native wood pigeons can often be found fat, gorged on these berries and drunk due to the fermentation process which occurs when their stomach acids react with the sugar rich berries. They often fall out of trees and flap about on the forest floor inebriated. This same wonder of nature leads to an explosion of mice due to the abundance of food now found on the forest floor. These mice are eaten by our massive trout which can result in fish doubling in weight over the course of several months. Fish are often caught with a dozen or more mice found in their stomach contents.

Why, again, are these two animals featured in a series called "Wild New Zealand"? Neither of these two are native; in fact, they are both highly destructive invasive species!

Caught trout as small as 10 inches with a full grown mouse in his belly, more than once in Colorado many years ago.
