It was one of my late father's party-pieces. Like Hoagy Carmichael, he played piano and sang. I love the chord sequence in this song. Super version from Freddy!!

Great performance. Saw Freddie last Saturday in the Cherry Tree in Walkinstown where he played this. What a guitar player!!!

My Grandfather sang this song... incorrectly. Until tonight, It was the only version I knew. My Google-fu is fairly good, but this one, "Rosabelle Mesquite", had me searching for a bit. This is the second version I've heard tonight, after the original, and it is my second favorite, after Grandpa's rendition. One day we were at a restaurant in a small mountain town having breakfast. As we were finishing our meal, the Red Hat society of said town were gathering around a few tables that had been pushed together for their group. They had settled in, and we were leaving. With his usual gregarious charm, he stopped at their table and proceeded to flatter them and indulge their feminine egos. As they were all fawning over his attentions, he offered to sing a song to them. I don't think I have to tell you what the song was, as we find ourselves here discussing it, but I can tell you it didn't go over as well as this did just now. Thank you for the outstanding performance. Especially in the correct environment we find ourselves in these days politically.
