Yes agree..and the funniest scene to me was when he went to see her at her in the hotel during her magazine interview and he had to pretend he was from Horse and Hound magazine. Absolutely hilarious that nobody else could do it but Hugh because he was basically playing himself!!

The first time I saw this film, I had rented it from Blockbuster--that's how long ago that was--and I was tired that day and fell asleep watching the movie. I ended up returning it the next day. Years later, I finally watched the whole thing and thought, "Wow, that's actually a very good movie!"

What a stretch for Julia Roberts to play a superstar. She's the best. Sandra Bullock is a far 2nd. The only 2 who can cast a film to box office success.

Funny thing is it also happened to a friend of mine, he met this very famous woman, didn’t know who she was, she asked for suggestions to sight see the city, he took her for coffee, drew a list, gave directions, ended up taking her AND paying, had a ball. She told him she was leaving “the day after tomorrow”, she went back to her hotel, then called him at 10 pm, he told her to go to bed! She called him at 7 am the next day, he took his car and they met, it was a Sunday, he took her to one of his favourite places and they had a great day, he took her back to drop her at her hotel, then almost dragged him up to her suite! He still doesn’t know who she is, but she persuaded him to have dinner with her. After dinner (she confirmed this to me later) she pleaded with him to stay over. She later told me she had to see if they were compatible “in the sack”. Apparently they were, she cancelled the flight asked him if he could take a couple of weeks off work, he did, they went away and came back married. She “came clean” 4 days into the holiday. It wasn’t that he was stupid for not recognising her, she had deliberately gone incognito.

Honestly, I think Notting Hill is really sad. Julia Roberts just takes takes advantage of him the entire time and then at the very end he just gives up and gives in. I don’t think it’s Romantic at all.

Extremely good film. One of my favorite romantic comedy. Probably no 1. And it’s not my genre to watch.

Literally, the only thing I remember from this film, seen IN THE CINEMA, was that everyone in NOTTINGHILL was palmvitas. Made NO SENSE. It completely broke the required spell.
