Hugh Laurie is a great actor. In addition, I also like some of his songs. I think he is very talented. British or American. It doesn't matter I still love his performances and how proud he is of being British. Cheers!! ;-) PS: I'm American

He couldn't find craft beers in the US? Not sure how long he's been out though. They could have really started to come out of the woodwork after his return to the UK, but here in the States you can find some EXCELLENT IPA's just at the grocery stores, now. You used to really have to seek them out a couple years back, but not so much anymore.

Agreed, craft beer has blossomed in the US in recent years... but a lot of people are still unaware of this, unfortunately.

Because House is proudly American. British would sound wrong in all ways.

Seeing House with a british accent is so wrong

i think it's attribute to a good actor he reminds me of when i first saw claire forlani in mallrats...there was one scene in that flick she slipped up but you'll never catch hugh screwing it up :D

I agree. But if he grows it back he has to dye it. Gray beards make men look old.

Love him - but why the fake American accent?
@kewlbns6910 жыл бұрын
because actors sometimes perform with foreign accents?
@lacherlichcateaster453810 жыл бұрын
Oh yes, I forgot about the acting thing. But he's singing in an American accent. That's what I find weird. Put it this way, it would be like Johnny Depp having a music acreer but performing everything in a weird London voice. See what I mean?

It fits the genre of music. He thought that an English accent with New Orleans Blues wouldn't fit. He grew up listening to the greats from New Orleans and instinctively imitates the sound. He is accompanied by a Black American female blues singer. It would be an awful clash in my opinion to sing in an English accent. (I'm sure it is torture in comparison to try to speak with an American accent.) Needs some singing lessons though... but I love him, like the music, and he's enjoying himself. That's what counts.

idk about the "singing lessons" but everything else has been said by hugh in one way or another ;)

***** Apologise for a very late reply. In an interview Hugh used this analogy: "You wouldn't want to listen to an Italian opera that had been translated into English, It just wouldn't be right." In the same way Hugh says blues should be sang in the New Orleans american from where it originates.
