I've been using the Hultafors general purpose axe for about a week now. I really like it, I've compared it to the Gränsfors Bruk Large Scandinavian Forest Axe.

I love me gransfors bruk axes but I have a nice selection of vintage axe heads I've been restored and it's afforded me the luxury of different head styles and slightly different weights.I also have hult bruks and wetterlings and I recently received my first council tools axe flying fox 22 inch straight handle I've really been impressed bye the flying fox and look forward to trying more from them.I learned that different head styles and angle are made for different applications and it's been really interesting to see and learn about years gone bye 👋.

I'm looking forward to learning all of that as well! :)

Ahoy. Which model HB axe are you using? Or, rather than the model number, what's the head weight and handle length? I have a hatchet of theirs and a couple of bigger felling axes (all lovely), yours looks like a nice middle ground between the two.

Hey! I'm 99% sure it's the HY10. I like it a lot, but I've had people who are not used to axes chop with it and they looked awkward while shorter handle axes worked better for them.

the hultafors has a better slicing edge, being curved it will cut better. the gransfors axes all have a flat edge, except for the carving axes.

Interesting, I didn't really think about that. Are you noticing that in similar use that I'm using the axes? Do you have any suggestions to how I could test the axes against each other to bring out their differences?
