Maybe if he was in a wheelchair or in bed (that last one would suck) his heart would last a bit longer because it's easier to move blood around horizontally than vertically ... But I get your point, and it's astonishing that he actually could stand up until death. Too much of "what if" anyway. My bad.

I grew up in Alton, Illinois and my mother went to school with Robert Wadlow. As stated in the video, Bob was well-liked and respected in Alton and was very much a gentleman. No one ever had an unkind thing to say about him in Alton

In the 1980s, every child had a copy of Guinness book of world records; Wadlow was one of my favorite entries. We didn’t have internet back then, so we had to use our imaginations. It’s great to finally see film of this amazing human.

Well film footage has been around for decades. I once saw a documentary about Wadlow on TV in about the 1980s. It was quite surreal seeing how tall he was from the footage used in that doco.

@@carmenpdl8918 Hola,por eso precisamente traje a colacion a aquel Gladiador de la epoca biblica,pues,aquellos si eran verdaderos gigantes,no por un problema con la tiroide,o el Hipotalamu,como fue el caso de este muchacho famoso mundialmente.Goliat,como otros muchos en esa epoca,venian de familia de gran estatura,y ademas,estaban mas cerca de la perfeccion que nosotros,ya que segun la historia el hombre primero fue perfecto,despues todo cambio con el pecado,y ya las peronas poco a poco fueron viviendo menos,desarrollandose menos tambien.Ese es mi modesto comentario,que puede ser una verdad a medias..

so awesome not only his size but that he was such a cool guy at the same time. They said he never really got mad and the only time he used his size to his advantage was playing harmless jokes like putting peoples hats up high in places they couldnt get too. Must have been awesome to grow up with him. As awesome as it was one Cant help but wonder how tall he would have grown too if he hadnt left us so soon. IF his brother who i think is still with us reads this its a shame he had to go so young cause he seemed so cool. My sincere condolences.

12 and 6'5" shouldn't be the mind-blowing part. Many people experience growth spurts around that time. I was 14 when I grew to 6'4", but that was the height I remained. Sadly, this young man had the overactive pituitary gland that just kept making him unable to stop growing. Also, I was taller than my first-grade teacher when I was in the first-grade. My guess is he was deeply insecure when his height wouldn't subside. Especially with his massive head and feet. I'm size 14, 40 is nuts.

Robert was a very kind, sweet natured fellow. Through all the teasing, stares and kicks to the shin (!) he was positive. Can you imagine being 5 and being the size of an average woman (5'4) or being 12 at 7'2?

He would have never stopped growing. That’s what gigantism does to you. His body was producing high amounts of growth hormone due to a tumor pressing on his pituitary gland.

Great part of human bodies fail or start failling at 7'5, I honestly think he's pretty much a mutant since he was able to reach 8'11 and could have reached even taller, his body did suffer the struggle, but still was capable or tolerate them, awesome.
