I certainly don't like ai generated media, as it's just an amalgomation of stolen work spit back out into a pattern similar to your request. However using just as a basic rough draft aint as bad Edit: I will also say, consistency in what the cards portray is important, seeing the soldier on the "retreat" card rush in the same direction as the "charge" is a bit confusing visually, mught be best to flip one of them

AI is a tool. Nothing more and nothing less. I think you have a "best of both worlds" approach that I like. Just be open about it and don't conceal it like some do. Your game looks very promising. I will follow it for when it probably eventually ends up on Kickstarter. ;-)

I can draw so for me AI has become a quick reference tool to get some quick ideas before I commit to a drawing. Its fasters than searching through images on Google and as a long time artist I can use the reference without making the mistake AI makes.

The red line isn’t consistent between the bayonet card and the fire card. The border doesn’t break where it overlaps for bayonet and it does break where it overlaps on fire. Either way works, I just think it should be consistent. Love how they all look though.

Sorry I liked what I saw in the earlier video but this kills my interest in the project. As an artist I don't like endorsing this technology as it threatens to take away my own source of income.

We got another shadiversity on our hands folks. Machine generated image is like ordering a bunch of random dishes at a restaurant, mixing them together, and then calling oneself a chef. all AI models are trained on real people's work without consent. AI doesn't create anything, It's just an algorithm that knows how to amalgamate a bunch of different bits from different artworks and string them together based on the prompt. that's why you can generate images very similar to pppular artists work by adding their name in the fking prompt.

@@ThatsNotMyRealName-jx7bs if / when that happens, the generative image models will quickly become (more) useless. They are dependent on vast amounts of data being fed through the models for improvement.

@@funglegunk I think if I were generating AI art and calling it mine without any alternation you might have a point. However, I'm going out of my way to make it unique even from the AI prompt and incorporating my own style into it. I think it's pretty absurd to suggest this method is hurting any other artists.

the "charge" card looks like a "derpy march" card - when charging with a weapon on a battlefield u tuck it to ur body and sprint head first with ur head down "retreat" looks like "checking one's back" - needs more of a twist in the leg movement "load" should be depicted sitting or squatting, standing is unsteady and u r an easier target on the battlefield unnecessarily

for the price that you spend a month for gpt 4 you could've gotten an artist to make all the cards for you on something like fiverr. Not to mention a drawing tablet that I'm guessing you don't use very often. So you easily had a $150+ budget for the drawing side of this project. This is silly, hire someone to make real, human, original artwork for you.

@@MadDoodles that's called fair use my friend. This is a unique image generated by observing thousands, if not millions of references, from public spaces. You may not like it but it's certainly not stolen.

As much as I disagree with the ethics of AI, I think your way of thinking is going to be the adopted way forward because it's nuanced. You see and use AI as a tool, but not to replace or exploit human work. The difference is you come from a creative background, not a money-hungry background. Anyone who picks sides without seeing this nuanced context are either scared or greedy.

@@MarkAhlquist that's true, I've experimented with that as well. It's been a while but I've never been able to produce anything that is actually 100% consistent as far as style. Besides that, no matter how good AI gets I'll always want to put some sort of "human touch" into it. Else, how can you call it art and be proud it?

You can't seriously speak of "humanizing" AI art. Tracing an image generated with stolen content is no better than just tracing someone else's work. If you want to put in your human artistic touch, just do it yourself.

I think thats a bit of an over reaction. Im not a huge fan of AI art, I dont necessarily think its stolen but i could be swayed. Besides all of that, I think the final product looks unique enough from even the AI prompt, not to mention whatever it sourced its references from, that i think your argument of it being stolen is pretty diluted.

I beg you to read some papers, articles or anything else besides Twitter/Reddit before you make such statements, because calling artists "emotional" and "partisan" when they're works and efforts are being stolen and used without their consent so Sam Altman and other goblins can scam investors and ask more billions in funds is pretty fucked up. AI was supposed to fix the hard things so we could create art, not replace the artist so we can pay a monthly sub to generate AI images.

@@julianbirkething is, all the images, videos and such they used were taken without permission or regards of copyright and such, there's no escaping that and all the implications of using AI content, also you seem good enough to make the art yourself and make it even better! If this is for your dream game, don't take shortcuts, show us your love and effort! I believe you can top what AI can generate and make something that really shines! Don't humanize AI art, you're the human, do it yourself.

Art takes effort. Art takes emotion. Art takes times. Artists are not being "very emotional partisans", they're pissed because their time, sweat, tears and efforts are being used without their consent to replace them. Knowing all that, you still defend AI. Why? Because you're the kind that can't be reasoned with, you probably read from twitter/reddit something cool about AI and bought the pill, so now you're defending a multi billion dollar scam and hating on the artists that created EVERYTHING you loved. yeah the results are not so good and people still can tell that you're tracing. Maybe just consider commissioning some human artists if you're taking your project seriously and don't want to spend years learning art

@@chylomcm I'm pretty happy with the results, maybe more experienced artists like yourself can tell it's traced but I don't think most people don't know or care. I like the process and will continue creating on my own.

I don't understand why people are crying this badly over an efficient decision on a creative project. It's expensive to hire artists and not everyone can draw. I enjoy creating my own games and I wouldn't mind using AI art to some extent to enhance the graphic design of my own cards, pieces, etc. It doesn't matter if it's "stolen", "traced", whatever. It still produces functional art for what it is required for.
