Surprised you didn't mention doing it "automatically" by usign the groove pool, the humanizer max device ableton posted in a blog pack, using the velocity midi device to randomize the velocity, and playing the drums using a quantize setting one step under whatever your shortest note was. That's how I do it.

Shit I am a drummer but a new to making comp beats but when I was trying to program even when I put it on 64 triples I still can’t make them how I play dynamics and ghost notes and double bass buzz rolls I always use and would take forever. Nigga I can just play any beat in 2 mins on my Roland electric kit I love drums and the are the feel and heartbeat of 95 % of all music or and percussion and are the part that make u move and feel the music the nod. Use to put metrodome as my name but that’s kinda weird lol bobblehead is too lol if u want real sounding drums u need a drummer. Like every instrument. Computers can’t feel music no,after what features and a human that has mastered will always be better and way less time I appreciate a band of masters vibing over and comp music that y 90s hip hop way better real lyrics on real tunes

I honestly struggle with how inconvenient MIDI editors are. I use my keyboard to blast through writing drum tracks in Guitar Pro then export them into my Reaper projects. The only setback is the MIDI editor doesn't import accents! This is where my main gripe is. Am I missing something?
