You don't need to get the knowledge star to get the Legacy Trait. You just need 10 science. On normal game speed, that's the same thing, ofc, but it may be good to know.

i went for the 9 ai humankind difficulty on the largest map achievement. played the whole thing and won only to realize I only set 8 AI not 9

Excited to share an idea: You have the Harappans! Extra food! For extra popluation! ....which means extra units..... and you've found two neighbors already. I think a militaristic or expansionist culture should get extra consideration next era. The Huns could be bananas since you already have a horse.

On matters of combat: There is actually a special and strong (+4) combat bonus for having a unit on the exact opposite side from where you are attacking. There were a couple of situations in which that could have helped. Also, on higher difficulty the AI gets a flat combat strength bonus, so even their Scouts are still stronger than the Runner. It's really not quite fair to the player. And some of the attacking units were the Mycenaean Promachoi, making for a huge combat strength differential to Runners and Levies. Well, all is well that ends well.

@@Alastor255 Too bad I can't add a drawing here, so let me try in words: The field the enemy unit is standing on has six neighboring fields, and what I mean with exact opposite is the field furthest away on the other side from the field you are standing on, the two fields for which a connecting line would go through the center of the enemy's field. E.g. if you have a unit left and right of the enemy unit they both get a +4 attack bonus, same for bottom-left and top-right, as well as top-left and bottom-right.

Use the levies, they're 100% expendaple. Also if you're defending there's not many reasons to attack, just defend and get a defense bonus. If you have the high ground or the enemy's standing in river then sure attacking makes the fight faster but generally just get yourself a nice spot and just sit there.

the cannal network counts as river so it is not a good idea to build it on top of a river like you did in your 2nd city.

defending against enemies is important, you don't have to attack every round. I took out the #1 enemy in my game, I was like last couse I had to spam military to defend him, anyway I start the fight then just take the high ground and keep defending against him, and he kills himself on me. Then quickly he had no troops left and I took the capital and eliminated him. I used some small armies to burn the territories first otherwise he would just turn one of those into a city.

oh also sometimes if an enemy declares war sometimes its handy to just immediately surrender and pay them money to go away.

I'll admit I'm not good enough for max difficulty yet. However, in my games, I've found the Myceans to be my favorite first pick. Maybe I've just gotten lucky a lot, but Cyclopean Fortress just tends to give an insane amount of production, on top of stability. Realy helps early game production

I agree on Harappans and Egyptians but the Nubians and Mycenaeans are also really good. The zhou are only good if you have some good mountainous areas.

Noticed that you build your armies somewhat 'willy nilly', i would propose two melee and two archers. Also, do hope you remember to put your scientist back unless you want to rush through science.

Has anyone else noticed the Auto-explore feature being tweaked since the latest patch? I’ve noticed my early game is slower than before.

yep but it worked for both yourself and the ai, they dont pick automatically the closest ressource anymore

I dont understand why you would use plant lore, +1 science per pop is so insanely strong in the early game

Every time I am trying to play on higher difficulty, game wants from me much more, than 5 units and 20 food to go farther. Can someone help me with that?

How do you speed up the combat? Do I need anything special?

It's in the settings. Look for "combat speed".

Settings > Gameplay > Battle Animation Speed to be exact.

Man I'm kinda worried about the fact they havent patched the game in an entire month. I was expecting a balance patch by now.

The game was patched was august 28th then another one on september 7th.

The next patch is scheduled for the 17th of September and it should include some gameplay and balance changes.

I've said it before and ill say it again, I think the game literally force spawns curiosities and such for auto explore units.

Not realy, it's more so that the auto explore already knows where they are so they instantly go towards them. Cant really simulate fog of war for an AI.

Not only that, the faster he plays the more mistakes made. I didn't enjoy this playthrough. He picked things so fast I had to change the speed to see what he selected. At least verbalize what you select. I stopped watching. I'm enjoying (and learned) from the comments more, lol.

I am finding the game is just SOOOOOOO rng based. Like the first 30 turns basically sets up the entire game becuase of how much snow balling occors.

Just go aggressive with grabbing territories and you're set for the rest of the game

Agreed. Maybe they should have an Outpost growth limit like the city limit and you pay more if you exceed it.

Why would you get the nomadic tribe era bonus and then leave the era you fool and if you chose it hoping for the glitch thingy you talked about why do you wanna cheat?
