I turned 63 yesterday. A week before that a video of Tin Soldier came across my feed. I recognized the name of the band, and was familiar with the song, and Itchycoo Park as well, from decades ago. I decided to watch the video. Steve absolutely blew me away. When I saw his name mentioned in the comments section I remembered he was the front man of Humble Pie. The only song of theirs I knew was I Don't Need No Doctor. Since then I've been devouring Humble Pie and Small Faces videos. I've also been reading a lot about Steve's life. He should have been a superstar, because he blows every blues/rock male vocalist out of the water. I need to get my fix of Steve every day, or else my day is a waste. I had lost my love of music years ago, and Steve has brought it back. RIP, Steve, and thank you. Your heart and soul bring tears to my eyes.

Hey same here, pretty much the same thing is happening to me right now...I knew Itchycoo Park etc etc..... Do you know Rory Gallagher? If not please do check him out once you've OD'ed on Stevie Marriott - I similarly stumbled across him, though it's about 20 years ago now, a supremely talented guitarist, sadly no longer with us

@@manonymous4737 I was vaguely aware of Gallagher already, but had never heard any of his music. I've checked out a few of his songs. He was a stellar guitar player and showman, but his voice leaves a lot to be desired. Steve was the total package, so I'm going to stick with him.

Thank you for including this quote from Mick. It shows that Mick was well aware of Steve's abilities. Both Mick and Keith knew Steve professionally and personally. Keith loved Steve and twice (1st when Brian left, then when Mick T left) asked Steve to join. I much prefer Steve to Jagger, but I think he would not have worked out in this position although he said he would have loved playing with Keith. Steve is a born frontman and would probably not be able to stay in the rear. Ronnie was a better fit for that position. However, Steve would have rocked - no doubt!!

It is a crime that Steve Marriott isn't a rock god in America. He should be mentioned in the same breath as The Beatles, The Stones, Zeppelin, and The Who. He's the most powerful blues rock vocalist ever !!!! Look for "I'm Ready Rockin the Filmore" and the vocal intro is insane !! Very, very few singers could pull off what Steve does at the intro of that song. Actually, no one could pull it off with as much soul or blues. No one, not Plant, Mercury... maybe Rodgers could come close; Noddy Holder of Slade could come close, as he has done a similar thing; but no one else.

My mom was die hard Faces fan and all Rod Stewart's solo stuff, Skynyrd, Eagles, Grand FN Funk the Who..dads favorite and mom had a lot of Lenny Williams, Al Greene, Sam & Dave and just Sam Cooke. Dad mainly southern rock, mom Motown and was raised in a large Eastern KY family of bluegrass musicians. I went on a metal and Real Punk spree during teens but now at 50 im right here remembering the smells of the cars, clothes, good smoke smell, the clothes and all man. I see the early years like its on a t.v. screen honest man a time machine wouldn't have to give me too far a lift ..just 50 short years but able to listen and watch in the crowd..not in back of a 72 LTD or on a big floor tv on a old transmitter radio or cabinet stereo via 8 track & vinyl.
