Ryan your info is drastically reducing the learning curve for others! The question I have is, can you share the Mega Live view from the bow to the helm provided they are networked. Also can you switch between Mega 360 and Mega Live using one Helix unit? Thanks again for the great content.

Thanks for the kind words and supporting the channel. Yes, the Mega Live view can be shown on any unit o or the network that is capable of showing live imaging (G3N and G4N). Yes, you can switch between Mega 360 and Mega Live on one Helix unit (G3N and G4N). Check out the video I just released earlier this week. It shows exactly what you just asked. Good morning Ryan, great vid and as a Co-Angler trying to get a boat, I see ALOT is involved, THANKS for the time you put into this vid, it has really opened my eyes to owning a boat, I saw your fire extinguisher and row paddle, I will keep this vid in my library, so when I do get blessed with a boat, I'll know how to set my units up.

Thanks for watching and supporting the channel. It's worked pretty good but it is definitely time to make some changes. First, I need to separate my electronics and run them from a dedicated battery. Thinking about lithiums but have some safety concerns.

@@MoneyBass Yeah you have enough electronics to support a power upgrade solution. I hear ya on the safety concerns but it seems like the lithium game is figured out now. They are getting priced right for sure. That interstate left me and my high school team stranded this year after only a few hours of fishing and running wells etc. I went with the X2 Power 31 series AGM and it's been a beast no issues running 3 Helix 12's, livewells, and Mega 360.

What wire end for the mega live wire is what I meant. Running 10 gauge from a 12/23amp lithium (Mega Live only). Getting the fuse panel but since it isn’t connected to anything else they said I didn’t need a on off switch. When the sensor gets wet it will turn on. Thanks for your help!

What's up Harry, if there is a question regarding a specific part of the video please include the timestamp. The Mega Live transducer is always "on" and drawing current when connected to a battery. The wet sensors activate the transducer so it will start pinging. Who told you that you don't need an on/off switch?

I will be using Fishing Specialies Mount for side of boat. Also I would be removing the mount and Mega Live when not in use or mooring our boat. Do you have any recommendations for a connection that I can install that can be easily connected and disconnected when mount with ML on it is removed? I would likely have an inline fuse for the Mega Live.

I haven't looked into any mounting systems for easy connection/disconnection. The network and power connections for the Mega Live transducer are pretty easy to disconnect. Be careful not to cause any pinch points that might damage your cables. Search Mega Live mounts on KZfaq. I'm sure there is someone that has a setup similar to what you are looking for. I’m wondering if using a cigarette style accessory sockets will work. I want the 360, live and target lock, too, but want them to be removable, as well.

Mega Live actually has some decent interference rejection in the settings. I run 18 gauge because that's the size of my kayak battery wires. But the only other things on my system are a single Helix 8 and Mega 360, so no chance for charger or motor interference. Just other transducers.

@@MoneyBass It depends. It has 3 levels of rejection, and 1 is pretty decent, 2 is very strong, and 3 is crazy. On the kayak fishing in 20mph+ winds, the waves pitch and roll the transducers that I get a lot of "echoing". Usually I bump it to 3 on those days.

Ryan, is your mega live powered by a lithium battery? I just installed lithium 16 volt and I’m told mega live is not recommended for this but I’m not sure. Thanks

No, I do not have any lithium batteries. I have one AGM battery. Watch 5:10 minutes into the video. I show the battery and how it is connected. Hope that helps. Thanks for supporting the channel!

I am finally getting my mega live in couple days. Setting it up exactly like yours. Great video. What size fuse goes in fuse panel. And did you install the switch yet and how. Look forward to response. Keep up videos

Sounds good! Thanks for supporting the channel. Be sure to read the manual. I'm using a 2 amp fuse. You might want to order them from Amazon. You can get a pack of 4 or 5 for the price of 1 if you are able to find one at an auto parts store. I haven't attached the drain wire or the switch yet. Maybe I can get to it tomorrow.

Your Hummingbird switch was full; you’re needing a second switch. What cables filled the first one? Do you have another switch at your console? The mega live, 360 and target lock, are the power wires, wired to the same circuit? Thank you for your channel!

My target lock and Mega Live are connected to the same switch. I don't have the 360 on a switch. I turn the perko switch off to kill power to the 360 and entire boat.

Great video series. Thanks so very much. I hope you don’t mind me asking you for some advice. I have a 176 Stratos that I’ve begun to upgrade. A Helix 10” G4 DI, SI sits on the console. My plan is to add a new Ultrex TM, a 12” Helix G4 DI, and a MegaLove unit up front. I know that both Helix units will network together but by adding the MegaLive, will I need to add a network junction box? If so, the. I might skip the MegaLive for now. I subscribed sir. Thank you for supporting the channel! You can connect 5 devices to the hub. 1. Helix 10" DI console 2. Ultrex TM (if it has iPilot link) 3. 12" Helix G4 DI 4. Mega Live 5. Based on the information I listed above are those the systems you are connecting? I suggest keeping Humminbird on speed dial just in case you have issues or technical questions to ensure you get the most up to date information. I look forward to seeing your comments on the "How Would you Fish It" videos I put out on Wednesdays.

@@MoneyBass I think I'm going to need a box. Even if I only connect the two Helix units and the Megalive transducer, I think I'll need a box. Wanted to stay clear of it.....boat small enough already. There ain't no room in the thing!!!

@@F1Hopeful yes, you will definitely need a 5 port hub. They aren't very big. A little bigger than your hand. The dimensions are listed on it. Search for it on Amazon or eBay for specs. I actually need 2 lol.

I don't remember but it is in the manual. I woukd stick with that unless tech support says otherwise. Definitely keep extra fuses in your boat.

How did you connect your fuse panel to the wall. Self tapping screws or sheet metal screws and did you drill a hole first. I see mixed thing on the internet and don’t want cracks or carpet to tear up. Thanks for your help.

I didn't do anything special. I just drilled the screws in place. Drilling a hole first wouldn't hurt.

Why isn't possible to install it over the 360 shaft?

The Mega Live transducer CAN be installed on the Mega 360 shaft but in my opinion that would significantly reduce the effectiveness of Mega Live. The Mega 360 shaft is stationary and you would not have a way to rotate the Mega Live transducer and scan areas for fish, cover etc. Hope that helps.

There is a "dongle" (adapter) made to connect it to the network. Contact Humminbird support to ensure you get the correct one based on your set up. That's the best way to avoid issues.

i am really starting to like your videos. I have not yet installed my Mega Live because the boat is still under 3 feet of snow. Wrt to cable size, 10 gauge is a big cable. The installation manual talks about 10' of 12 gauge cable that comes with the unit but I cannot find that beyond that 10' that I need to up size to 10 gauge. I read but the English and the French manuals and cannot find anything about having to use 10 guage cables. Additionally, I wonder if you ever made a video about using the Hydrowave. I have a feeling that the recorded sounds are not what I need in southern Ontario. Thank you.

Great video Ryan! I have to tell you, Like a lot of people, I have a lot of frustrations reading all the issues with the MEGA live system with interference. Did i miss something or did I hear you correct? I have all new GEN4 HELIX's. Am I going to need to do a systems update already? My boat is going into the shop next week to have everything installed. My boat mechanic is awesome and knows what he is doing and he actually informed me that I will need to possibly do an update. I don't give those post posts on FB. I do follow and read them but, it gets to a bit confusing reading all the different posts. Are you experiencing any freezing up of the LIVE while moving it around? Keep up the great video's! Are you on FB or IG?

Thanks for supporting the channel. Good questions. My IG is @OfficialMoneyBass. The current software version on Humminbird's website for G4N units is 2.66. You can check your software version by going to the system status screen. Make sure it is set to visible. I just received a new G4N unit yesterday and it had the newest software version already. I uploaded a video about the freezing issue and a possible fix because it was I didn't have the issue after removing the auto settings. Hope that helps. Let me know how things turn out.

My Mega 360 was wired at the shop. I connected my Mega Live, just connected my switch yesterday but haven't connected the drain wire yet.

@@MoneyBass I am very impressed that you took the time to write back. I subscribed and will check out your other videos. I need to rewatch this video to understand where you are using the APIELE switch. I am rigging a new Lund Pro V myself ( have had issues allowing dealers to do the last several boats) There is a learning curve to this but in the end I will understand the electrical system in my boat.

I've been turning off power using the perko switch but there were times that I needed to have the livewells running and had to leave the power on. The switch allows me to reset the Mega Live system also without turning off the power to everything. I will try to upload that video today. Be sure to watch the livestream tomorrow. Every Tuesday 8pm EST.

How did you add the mega live without adding another Ethernet hub?

I disconnected one of my console graphs and just use it for mapping until I get an additional hub. At 8:42 in the video I show the hub and disconnected network cable. I can still mark waypoints if needed on the console graph that is still on the network. Thanks for supporting the channel.

I did not attach the drain or switch yet. Based on the manual they are definitely needed. I think there may eventually cause issues if not connected. I should have them completed this weekend and I will upload a video with the details. Thanks for supporting the channel.

Yes. The purpose of the mask is to eliminate the double image. I haven't installed mine yet.
