Come with me to the magnificent Pousada Vita Verde, where we photographed one of the most beautiful hummingbirds in the world: the Frilled Coquette. We also photographed the White-vented Violetear for the first time.

The birds are amazing but what I found so wonderful was the sound that all those hummingbirds made while at the feeders - it almost drowned out your voice! I have never heard more than a few at any one time and it never fails to get my attention. You are living the dream, that's for sure and I envy you!

I love hummingbirds. I live near Kerr Lake in Upper NC, USA, and during the summer I get many many ruby neck hummingbirds. I lived not to far away, and fed hummers at that location, and had other types of hummingbirds. Not sure why I can't attract them here as well. I am going to encorporate plants in the spring to my feeding area. So I can add color to the yard for my enjoyment and for nurishment for the birds as well. I feed all year round, all kinds of birds not just hummers.

Another great video. The color differences between the male and female Frilled Coquette are very interesting and, you are right, that juvenile was very cute with only 2 orange plumes on its head. Love not only the ears on the White-vented Violetear but the beautiful colors; a very gorgeous bird.

What an amazing place, it amazing. The amount and type of hummingbirds is incredible. Love the Frilled Coquette. And that juvenile with only the 2 orange feathers was super cute. What an adventure.

Do you ever get into hummingbird baths? Does that help you attract birds do you think? I tried making a fountain out of a PVC pipe, sticking out of a metal plate covered it in plants but nobody came. Maybe a video idea, about hummingbird baths. Educational and pretty shot video Carole!

i have a couple videos showing the hummingbirds bathing in my tabletop fountain. They love it. But one thing is true of my hummingbirds - they only bathe early in the morning. I could leave that thing on all day and nobody will use it. But if I turn it on at 6am they hummers are all over it.
