Love this film. I saw it at the Sitges Film Festival where, during the presentation, the main actor, in full costume, would burst into the cinema and wrestle men dressed in the beaver costumes. They then proceeded to do so throughout the hotel that serves as basecamp. Then the town. For almost a week. Countless times every day. Without warning. Hilarious every time they were unexpectedly spotted.

I went to a showing where the producer was there to do a Q&A after. At the start of shooting they only had 5 beaver costumes total. They showed the early footage to producers and ended up getting a whopping total of 6 beaver costumes for the whole shoot. Apparently the effects were done in After Effects. Much of it was shot in Wisconsin and Minnesota on golf courses. Glad to see this work of brilliantly silly art getting around!

Holy smokes, I'm so happy you got to see this! Wasn't sure if it was just playing in arthouse theaters, I really hope people go see it, it was so much fun with a big audience. Might be my favorite title reveal of all time.

When I first watched this movie I almost stopped watching it after about 5 minutes, I was like "what the hell am I watching" I'm glad I kept on because this is the most entertaining, creative, funny, original movie I've seen this year and I've since watched it a couple more times with friends and family...

Since you like this movie and the vibe of it, I highly recommend Lake Michigan Monster. Many of the cast that were in this movie are in that movie. In fact, Crews, the lead actor here, wrote and directed Lake Michigan Monster. The movie, itself, is a parody of black and white 50's monster movies. And, yes, it is as equally ridiculous and hilarious.

Watched this a couple of weeks ago for friday night movie night Son downloaded it and we laughed our selves silly I hope this gets a physical release because it's only available on streaming at the moment The have done another movie before this called Lake Michigan Monster

Oh man, glad to finally see a reaction to this! It was first released on the film festival circuit in 2022, but did a wider theatrical tour and release this year. I met the director Mike Cheslik, star Ryland Tews, and one of the producers in Chicago when it played at the Music Box. They even had a few beavers there for all of their screenings they did! It's a great time and this movie actually sat at #1 on Letterboxd this year until Dune 2 released and dethroned it! It was filmed in Wisconsin and very low budget, and completely changed many of the ideas of what you can do in a movie. A lot of the advertisement of it as well was based on a conspiracy of beavers building something Nefarious, and my friends and I put an ad together for them just because we liked this movie so much :) We even ended up on their website/youtube after our first viewing of the movie! kzfaq.info/get/bejne/qLF4i6qLtsy1das.html

I love that the dogs start out playing poker and it ends up as solitaire when theres one left I also love the sound he makes when trying to make fire at the start and the little whistle he does when map traveling

This technique is a very old form of animation called Live Action Animation. Walt Disney got started doing these. He made what is known as the Alice Comedies. That was pre-Mickey Mouse. Check out the movie Walt before Mickey. They get into how these were made.

Well for one this was a Patreon Super Fan pick, so it was chosen for us to watch. And I’m glad it was, because I enjoyed it, and more than likely wouldn’t have heard of it otherwise due to it being such a small film with probably close to zero budget for marketing. And , secondly, out of the last 20 videos on the channel Hundreds of Beavers (2022) Field of Dreams (1989) Cheech and Chong’s Next Movie (1980) Dune: Part 2 (2024) Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan (1982) Double Down (2005) Sinbad (2003) As Good as It Gets (1997) The Night Comes for Us (2018) Amazon Women on the Moon (1987) Strange Brew (1983) Pump up the Volume (1990) The Great Muppet Caper (1981) They Cloned Tyrone (2023) Short Circuit 2 (1988) Ferris Bueller’s Day Off (1986) National Lampoon’s Vacation (1983) Ready or Not (2019) The Crucible (1996) Seven Psychopaths (2012) 12 of them have been pre-2000, making them 25+ years old. And if you don’t count the two movies Emily by herself (Cheech and Chong, and Seven Psychopaths) and only count the ones we watched together, that would put The Way of the Dragon (1972) Drunken Master II (1994) into the list of the last 20 videos, making the total of pre-2000 movies 13. We like to try and have variety of genre and age of movies. And even with focusing on trying to have variety, the majority of movies are older.
