The Hungarian Folk Tales stem from original folktale collections, every episode has its special authentic ornamentation. The makers used the decorative art of a certain countryside region at each episode. The trio of folk art, folk music and folk tales are masterfully combined in the episodes, which have unique imagery, sometimes spicy folk humor in the dialogues. Thanks to the natural presentation of the storytellers, and the music of the Kaláka band, the viewer can experience something unique and special.

Tricking a whole kingdom out of its 10-year food reserves is certainly an "interesting" way to make up for the crime of stealing a woodcutter's lunchpack. And that's one of the reasons why I love these Hungarian Folk Tales ... they come from a very different place to the Disney-fied folk tales that I'm used to :)

I have no video but I can tell you about my daughter's reaction. She's little and instantly fell in love with these stories. We've watched them all over and over again. Every night before bed. She has been "addicted" since she watched the first video. It's nice to have something fun to watch together.
