I beg to differ, It is true that 10% of Czech soldiers deserted in WW1 but that also means that 90% remained loyal to the Empire. Over 300 000 ethnic Czech soldiers died serving the Emperor. Don't put them in the same bag as the traitors. Other than that I fully agree with your statement.

I'm not sure but I think it was because the Czechs,in particular,betrayed the Habsburgs in WW1,and since then never wanted anything to do with the Habsburgs.Now Czechia is over 90 percent Czech,but during the days of the Empire it was over a third German as well.How much better the world would have been if Austria-Hungary had been allowed at the end of the war to become a Federalized state as was planned instead of split apart only to become a prey to the Nazis and Soviets 20 years later.
