Agreed. My son went with team Haas at Silverstone and did not lose much vs Mercedes. Of course, if Russel did not DNF, Merc would have outperformed Haas by more.

@@Laifu23 if they just hit 20-30 points, I think it's well worth it. If they have a poor weekend though it'll sting! But I think the budget potential is also a big factor. 0.5m easy money

Love that crazy idea! Unfortunately I’d have to dismember my team to achieve it. I think Lewis is a must for Hungary…. I was SO tempted to have him in Silverstone just to have him ready for this weekend. Alas. Anyway: probably going with HAM PIA double Haas drivers and MER MCL + SAR ( I mean sar) Love your out of the box thoughts!

@@michaelfierman3256 yeah, I wish I'd gone HAM last week! What a difference that would have made. But still, I'll almost certainly have some HAM coverage this week through either the constructor or driver. Sounds like you have the pretty much same team as me, I really like that structure! Will I be tempted to the Haas side though...?

Yeah, you are a bit low on budget and now we're into the 2nd half of the season, it might be worth the risk. Wait for practice sessions before committing to Haas

It's an interesting structure...I'm able to afford Verstappen, Norris, Hulk, Albon, & Gas w/ an MCL + HAA build...never even thought of it. Basically guaranteed A-tier points for the top two drivers every week and then rely on the four C tier to compensate for price rises being missed by having those two A tiers...there's an interesting balance to that. A lot of thinking to do with that idea - you've definitely thrown a super spanner in the mind works with this one Tom. Blimey.

Haha nice! I like the appeal of Tier C assets that can be consistent and Haas seem to fit that at the moment. I've been looking at the triple B driver line up but I expect the AA line up you mentioned could also work...

@@potpanmanF1 You know what triple B might be worth looking at as well given Hamilton's 1 million rise and the fact that Oscar's pace is really closing in on Norris' in not just qualifying but also finally the races as well. And considering both Russell & Hamilton have had a pole at hungary maybe MCL to get Norris points along with Oscar, Ham, & Rus can work w/ the Haas build and then 2 c tiers. I have so much to play around with when I get home now thanks a lot mate ahaha!

Do you think guys its worth to replace Russel for Piastri with the Final fix chips or should i keep it for a further fix?

@@tommygrenon5920 I think it's a close decision: Russell could get a chunk of overtake and positions gained points. Piastri has a real shot of winning/at least podium. If piastri goes on to win he'll score roughly 35 points (plus potential Dotd, maybe fast lap), will outscore Russell by 20-30points. But if piastri just comes 2nd or 3rd, he'll likely score between 20-30points, which is still likely 10-15 more than Russell (at a rough guess). However if piastri has a poor race and finishes 4th or worse then I don't think it's worth it. I have Russell and wish I had piastri instead but can't afford a FF to Piastri. If I did, I think I might go for it. But it's a bit of a non-decision for me as like I say, no funds.

Loved the Haas chat! Do you think if you were 450 points behind 1st place in your mini league and had £8m less in budget (I have £116m), would this be the first thing you would consider doing to make up ground (assuming they look good in practice)? I have a Lando + 4 C-tier lineup btw

Seems like a potential way to climb back up. If it works then budget will improve a lot and hopefully make gains on the points side too. Keep a close eye on practice!

Wow, Tom! Mind. Blown. Haas as a constructor? That'll take some balls but .... I kinda like it!! If practice shows that they're up there with both drivers having the upgrades (assuming they do) then I could be really tempted as well since I could have NOR/HAM/RUS with triple Haas and Mercedes. Of course F1FantasyTools hates the idea right now but that could all change after FP3. I fell into the trap of picking RUS over HAM last race as well. If RUS hadn't looked so good in practice I was all set to pick HAM ... but there you go. Seems like most folks had a shocking haul of points as well though so it wasn't as calamitous as I feared when I first saw my points total. Up till now I've been really lucky this year with DNFs (unlike last year!) so 🤞. Good luck, mate ... and enjoy your holiday!

Yeah, I had a bad week but wasn't THAT far from most points totals. I really could do with a strong couple of weeks before the summer break though! I may chicken out and just go GAS> MAG but if they look particularly strong then HAAS constructor could be a GO. As for DNFs I haven't looked at the numbers but it feels like I'm catching one or two more than I did last year. Feels bad! But I'm getting better at dusting them off rather than actually wallowing in self-pity 😂

Mercedes and Ferrari may be interchangeable in Hungary as Merc is still struggling with a bit of slow corner understeer (this may be improved in the upgrade package they're bringing) and Ferrari is quite good with the kerbs and slow corners which Hungary has loads of

Hey Tom, that HAA constructor build got me thinking! It could be very powerful. My main problem is that on a track like Hungary, it's quite difficult to overtake, so it will be stripped of a lot of MAG and HUL's overtake points and MAG's positions gained too. I don't expect the HAA constructor to score more than 20 points on these low-overtake tracks. But it could be a smart sleeper pick for Spa... Anyway, I don't have the wildcard to rip my team apart to get to a triple premium driver build with the HAA constructor. I'm sitting on MCL MER 2x NOR TSU GAS HUL BOT with 2 free transfers and 116.3M in budget. I think I'll just do a nice little upgrade, BOT -> MAG and roll a transfer. Could potentially take a -10 to get to a MCL MER HAM RUS build but I think I'll need to see a lot of pace from MER in practice for the -10 to pay off on a non-sprint weekend like this.

@@racing1000 yeah this is true. A quick calculation suggests roughly 69% of Haas points are from overtaking and positions gained this season. Certainly may be reduced in Hungary. We'll see how practice goes 😃

But by the same logic if both upgraded haas cars + their drivers qualify in the top 10 like p9 kmag and p6 hulk for example doesn't the lack of overtaking mean they can stay in the top 10 score good points and maybe get obviously not a 1.0 increase but 0.5s for both drivers & team and therefore 1.5M total just from something like that. Or does lack of overtaking mean they won't be able to get 0.5 increases even with the potential of high qualifying & finishing positions?

@@Drizzydid That's true, if HUL does something crazy and finishes in the top 6 again and MAG at least keeps the car on track, I think the HAA constructor will get a 0.5M rise for sure. I think it is quite likely HAA gets another price rise, but it will score a lot more points in Spa, closing the gap to MCL/MER and making it more viable.

@@potpanmanF1 Yeah, we'll have a much better idea after practice as always. I'm eyeing up HAA for Spa as an opportunity to get VER because of the grid penalty rumours. Maybe MER HAA 2x VER RUS MAG TSU HUL??? Could even use 3x DRS if the RB20 is the fastest car. This is turning into more of a Belgium team selection discussion than Hungary 😂😅

@@e.y.2383 I'm kinda liking BOT more at the moment. Though he is susceptible to qualifying a bit too high on occasion. BOT has more overtakes than ZHO this season
