This will be the cause when the right roller in the cassette are not turning to feed the tape back in. It is either due to a bad belt or a broken gear as VCR's made in the 90's and 2000's used very thin plastic gears that could over the years start to go brittle. As there are little cables to almost none other that the ones that goes to the tape heads and the picture drum, the tape mechanism has sockets on the bottom that is connected directly on to the main circuit board. All you need to take it apart, is to disconnect the tape heads and the drum, unscrew the 4 screws in the corners of the mechanism and pull it carefully straight up to not break the connectors underneath that will let go with minor force. Then to put it back together, just aling the mechanism accordingly to the 4 screw mountings in the corners and push it down until you hears clicks and the mechanism is resting on 4 screw mountings, then put the screws back in and tighten, and connect the heads and everything you disconnected around it.

From my experience, I’ve never seen that before, but it could be because of a sensor. Maybe try cleaning it with some water and soap, and a damp cough

Alright I fixed it and now can give you my advice, I also have the same model. First off clean the head with isopropyl alcohol (the shiny metal thing that spins) then what you are going to do disconect the VHS reading board and replace the drive belt and after that, disconnect and reconnect the VHS reading board (the metal one not the other one stuck to the base) then I think that should be it! it worked for me and now my VCR is ON and showing on my TV just fine! if you have problems playing the tape then I don't know because I still have that problem but it might just be something else that I have to clean. I hope this helped you.

Just got a vcr from the thrift shop and it worked perfectly well until I tried to rewind a tape. Now it does this evertyime I put a tape in.

Try replacing the belt first, if you have to, you can try a rubber band, hell I did it with my VCR and it works fine, other than the tracking which isn’t related

It’s most likely the belt is wore out underneath that’s what I have found while looking about the exact same issue with mine, I’m trying to figure out how to get it off the mother board to look at the belt

I have this same problem. Both spools turn they just don’t turn together. I can rewind and only the right one spins, fast forward and play turns only the left one.

Exact same problem i had with a samsung sv-700x but mine tosses the tape around with the friction of the heads but your problem is the belt which mine also had

i had the same issue on my friends vcr. pinch roller was spilling the tape and capstan motor was doing apsolutely nothing and reason was the dumb belt fell off the capstan motor and capstan shaft

If you still cannot fix it I have the solution! I just open it, de-conect it and re-conect it back and it works just fine again! but still the VHS will comeout with it's tape out sadly.

@@gardener_leaftail I had to give up on vcrs. If you buy a used one they are old, and wornout, if you can find a new one they get screwed up with the 1st bad tape you feed them. Hopefully you can buy one that'll last long enough to use it to convert all your stuff to a digital format. I ended up losing hundreds of old movies to bad vcrs over the years.

@@gardener_leaftail you'll have to disassemble and check why the wheel is stuck first.. look for loose part or damaged parts during the disassembly.

I own several bc I still have a large vhs collection. I plan on converting most of them to dvd and Blu-ray in the future. I do have some movies and cartoons that were never released on dvd or Blu-ray. I still enjoy watching vhs though 😂.
