Hungry Vlogger flies to Jakarta to eat STREET FOOD for 24 hours 🇮🇩

I came back to travel all over Indonesia, but I couldn't do that without first making a stop in Jakarta to enjoy some insanely delicious street food for 24 hours.

I think headed to the Jakarta Kota station to take the red line towards Bogor. The staff helped me find the correct train and it was a nice break from walking and being in the heat of Jakarta. The train was smooth and I think I made it faster than a Grab Bike could.
I think wanted to visit the Istiqlal Mosque, the largest Mosque in Indonesia.

A friendly man helped me try to go in the back way, but if you are a tourist, you must go in through the main gate. Then head to the information center on the left. It's not well marked so it is easy to miss. They will register you and make sure you are dressed appropriately before heading into the mosque on a tour.
I think headed north towards Metro Pasar Baru on the hunt for some Rujak. This is one of my favorite afternoon snacks as it is full of fruits and veggies and topped with a flavorful palm sugar, chili, fermented shrimp paste, peanut, and more sauce.
I was lucky to find this place as I think it is very popular. Be prepared to only have take away.

I hoped back on the metro down to Cawang station where outside the station grab bike employees were enjoying a smoke break and waiting for passengers. I had many drivers that gladly took me to my next destination.
As we arrived, I was informed that the Bakso Lava, which is a social media viral video had been sold out already for the day.

I headed back to my Airbnb and decided to clean up before heading out on an early dinner exploration.
My research took me to this Sop Kaki Kambing restaurant.

The goat was tremendous. I was a little worried when seeing all the flies. But the Sop kaki was the best I have ever had. So creamy and rich. The goat was tender and such quality. I also got the plate of goat sate. It was good, but sometimes had some pieces that were too chewy.
Finally, I cannot finish without something sweet.
A quick google search led me to this place.

It didn't really look that popular, but I knew it was early in the night and that there was no way this couldn't be good from the pictures I saw. The pictures did not lie. I got the Special with everything and one box could easily be 10,000 calories. The Murtabak was stop notch here and a 3rd of the price as the popular touristy stalls.

Kan sekarang wilayah Glodok sudah mulai direvitalisasi seperti pembangunan trotoar yang luas meskipun belum semuanya direvitalisasi seperti tempat parkir dan penataan PKL tetapi nantinya juga akan direvitalisasi semua. Apalagi di daerah situ juga sedang masih dalam pembangunan proyek MRT

Glad u eat like locals.... for laksa yes you should go to Bogor... just ride commuterline train for Kota-Bogor lane, a hour from Jakarta. Super cheap and cozy.

Thank you for being generous with the people, Max 🙏 1:16 they sell _laksa Bogor_ which is from the city of Bogor, which is around 60 km or 37 miles away from Jakarta. For the best version of _laksa Bogor_ one needs to go to its city of origin, which can be reached with the commuter train right here 20:34 and takes around 90 minutes. Visitors to Jakarta should instead try _laksa Betawi_ which is the city’s own version of the dish. 16:33 in local dialect of Hokkien “tak” means virtue, while “kie” means to keep in mind or to recognize. The grandfather who started the business wanted people to recognize the shop easily, which came true, sort of, despite its somewhat hidden location 😅 19:57 Jakarta Kota serves the Commuter trains, it’s not a Metro (MRT) station but they’re building one right at Jakarta Kota’s courtyard at the moment. Soon visitors can take the metro to Jakarta’s Old Town as another alternative to the commuter train or the rapid transit bus. 33:57 it’s actually tamarind water, no soy sauce is used for _rujak buah_ sauce. 38:02 there’s actually a type of _rujak buah_ that has to be eaten with _krupuk_ so this is on point! 40:37 nobody pays 5000, come on Max, that’s like 8000 Vietnamese Dong which is peanuts. But yes, it should be around 13000 instead of 20000 for that kind of distance 😒 Sure it’s not that much of a difference but it’s a matter of integrity, so I feel secondhand embarrassment from what he did. 49:26 they really need to do something about the flies because that’s just gross. I also wonder if they ever clean the cutting board at all. The food authority in our neighboring countries would not let these things fly (pun intended). 59:13 in this is another thing, cigarette when handling food is a big no-no.

U should try these foods if you’re going to bandung: 1. Bakso Tjap Haji 2. Batagor kingsley 3. Bebek Ali Borme 4. Breakfast @ Mangkok Manis (jalan cihampelas) 5. There’s actually a pretty good Martabak stall called Martabak Bandung Raya near the Cipete Raya MRT station/McDonalds. And by the way, South Jakarta (Blok M, Senopati, Senayan, Kemang, Cipete, Fatmawati) has more English speakers than other parts of Jakarta

there are several types of laksa in Indonesia. around Jakarta you can get Laksa Betawi, Laksa Bogor, and Laksa Tangerang. Laksa Betawi tastes stronger than the other Laksa and served without thin noodle. usually you eat laksa Betawi with semur jengkol, tofu, tempeh, or potato. Laksa Tangerang also has strong taste but served with rice noodle and mung bean. usually you eat laksa Tangerang with grilled chicken. Laksa Bogor I know has two variants, the Bogor style and Cibinong style. CMIIW. Cibinong style is the one ate by Max. Taste lighter than the other laksa. The Bogor style Laksa Bogor uses roasted coconut to make the taste heavier but not as strong as Laksa Betawi and Laksa Tangerang. Other type of laksa in Indonesia are Laksa Palembang and Laksa Banjar which have its own characteristic.

I think almost all local coffee store in indonesia have palm sugar/brown sugar coffee..including kopi kenangan, i think that one of the signature.. brown sugar coffee..

Just have to check their menu Max, most of Indo's coffee shops usually have that palm sugar coffee written as "kopi susu aren/kopi susu gula aren" on their menu, sometimes mixed/paired with pandan kopi. You can try at Kopi Kenangan, Fore Coffe, or Tuku coffee, they are all local's favorite coffe shops.

Laksa is a traditional Melayu tribe food, u can find it in the Kepulauan riau province, it tastes very similar to the laksa in Malaysia and Singapore, cause the people of Kepulauan riau are Melayu tribe and are also close to the border of Singapore and Malaysia

Kopi Kenangan is indonesian brand for coffee shop. At beginning they was a start up and then got investor from international venture capital so now they are one of the biggest coffee shop in Indonesia and start to expand to other country.

Mipan is the rice flour but made more solid , tear it up then sprinkled with plenty fried garlic and pour your beloved liquid gula aren 😅😅 That's it It's Chinese Khe tribe dish, plenty in Pontianak The laksa seemed disappointing to me Diff than the laksa I ate in Medan ...it had seafood, small shrimps and sliced squids and more reddish broth The trending dish ATM is Gohyong, it's a fried food .. very yummylicious 😉 it's a take from chinese dish made with chicken ...originally pork with prawns The pork siomay you ate at the alleyway was cheap, 500 each .. the best pork siomay in Jkt is 10k each but also bigger but made full of meat, not flour .. Glad to know that you've been trying es kopi tak kie in china town of jakarta & soto kaki bang anen on south jakarta. I recommending you to trying "Tongseng Kambing" (goat javanesse curry) in front of BRI Cipete & legendary fried banana , Pisang Goreng Madu Bu Nanik in Tanjung Duren, Jakarta.

you eat on 50:00 , the name is Soto Betawi. Soto Betawi is a typical food originally from Jakarta. Betawi is an ethnic group from Jakarta. My number 1 favorite food that will not be replaced is of course Soto Betawi. Soto Betawi is the most delicious food in the world, number 1 for me. Moreover, Betawi Soto uses milk sauce like in the video. Rendang? Of course rendang is the 100th tastiest food I think hahaha. There are lots of Indonesian foods that are much, much better than Rendang
