This is the set we've been all waiting for! In tonight's experimental Coinbox ruleset with Final Smash Meter ENABLED -- MkLeo and Sparg0 met each other in bracket for the first time in 4 months (and the first time online in over 3 years!!). This also marks the return of the Leo Joker - and now with Final Smashes!!!

@@darkdraconis the issue is these zelda and peach players suck at the game compared to the steve / sonic players. so yes the final smash is broken but they are already down 2 stocks when they hit it.

I was just going to say as a Peach main who can execute complex combos, knows the advantage state, and is hard to catch in neutral, having a button that automatically wins ledge trap by sleeping them offstage was THE REASON my friends banned us from using Smash Meter years ago. I mean with current state of the meta, i would rather have other stupid characters than sonic and steve. If Final smashes means more matches like this and less steve and sonic im all for it

Last night in coinbox, HBox showed a graphic tweeted by someone. It broke down the characters used in the top 64. There were 6 Steve and 5 Kazuya but only 2 Sonic. That's pretty typical of a usual coinbox anyway. The biggest difference in this coinbox was that 2 Peach also made top 8, which never really happens otherwise.

From my point of view, the Spargo VS Leo rivalry has been closer, I rarely saw one go over the other. While Tweek vs Leo has 2 stages, Leo beating Tweek and then Tweek beating Leo. Here I definitely feel that one is usually superior to the other, with many games of 5, but at the end of the match you can see the difference in level between one and the other. Likewise, both rivalries are very iconic at different times of the game.

@@Gran_Ove Thats not really true though, at one point the set record was 10-3 in Mkleos favour vs Sparg0 before it started getting more competitive - in the same amount of sets, the set record was 9-4 in Leos favour vs Tweek (or 10-3 if you decide to count a prelocal set where Leo went Mewtwo) Both Tweek/Sparg0 went through the "loses to Leo most of the time" phase, for some reason though people ignore that Leos record against Sparg0 has always been one sided too and most of the time was even more one sided than his record vs Tweek

smash meter on actually adds so much to the game. It's like suddenly everyone has knockout punch. It can be used a tool to pressure opponents into undesirable options and states. The fear factor of it is wild. That, and also, you might have had a broken character in regular smash, but smash meter on might change things entirely. I'd love to see a tier list for final smash meter smash ultimate.

I don't think final smashes should be legalized for all tournaments by any means but for this format (coinbox/online tournaments), why the hell not do it on occasion? I love the experimentation we get.

meter smash always been viable IMHO since the drop of the game, but to get regions to get onboard was so hard... even 3v3 goes mad harddddd in SSBU but again ... the community be super tight on the rules ... and as an OG organizer i felt like it was a biggggg super entertaining super WELCOMING way to build the competitive scene ... but hey smash had its competitive time and it was great.
