It seems to me that Hunter is a much better actor than most actors are football players. He does a great job in this series.

I hope Dee Dee can walk again.I too had an accident in 2021 injuring my spine,and becoming disabled ,unable to walk like i could.I now have to rely on carers to do everything i could do which is depressing at times.So i cheer myself up by watching Hunter and all the other great 80's tv shows.I can walk around the house which has taken me 3 yrs to be able to do.

I hope Dee Dee made a full recovery and was able to walk again.She is a great freind and a brilliant cop and partner to Hunter.

Man, I got to tell you, Charlotte Clay and Thomas Huggins sure write some great episodes! Every episode they've written together has been excellent. This episode had everything from humor to pathos and a great car case at the end. I don't understand why these 2 parters are not the last two episodes of the season. This is the 2nd season now where they've put their 2 parters near the end of the season rather than being the last episodes. This is especially egregious considering the cliffhanger ending to this episode.

Totally agree on Charlotte Clay and Thomas Huggins. Their episodes are always fantastic and make season three a standout. As for this two-parter, it was more-or-less finale in 1987. "Hot Pursuit" aired back-to-back in May and concluded the initial run of the third season. The final episode, "Shades" was held back until July because Fred Dryer was threatening to walk out on his contract as part of a plan to gain more money and control of the series. NBC in return threatened to do the show without him, which is why "Shades" was written as a possible departure episode and Fred is barely in it. NBC eventually realized the gambit would never work and caved to Fred's demands, which is how he ended up as the executive producer in season six. Once NBC and Fred reached a new deal, they filmed the clumsy tag to "Shades" showing Hunter had survived after all. McCall isn't in it presumably because Stepfanie had already left for the summer.

@@synsix7979 Thanks for the background on that. I really need to get back to binging Hunter...The TV I used had broken and then I got into other stuff. I'll get back on the horse so to speak next month.

@@SPTO You're welcome. Lots of good episodes between this one and the end of the series. :) Fred's contract negotiations here in season three also foreshadow the end of the show in some ways. When he gained control in season six, he cut Stepfanie Kramer's screen time in half, deciding that there really wasn't much left to do with the character of Dee Dee McCall. She wasn't pleased (lots of folks in the comments remark about how unhappy she seems in the last season and this is why) and as a result she left the show with one year remaining on her contract. I gather Fred now admits this was a mistake on his part.

@@synsix7979 Yeah, the last couple years saw some massive decline in popularity and quality of the show. I'm not looking forward to the last season without Kramer.

Interesting choice of names for Hunter's record search... Judy Hoffs was the name of a lead character in 21 Jump Street...! She was portrayed by the actress Holly Robinson. 🧐😉👍

I noticed that too.Hunter a d Mc Call never along with other tv cops NEVER had trouble like you say finding a parking place.Wish it could be like that in real life.

In the end of the episode, Hunters car is crashed into by a hitman, and the hitmans car is damaged on the left hand side. A car chase starts and in a right hand turn, the hitmans car loses the hubcap on the left rear wheel. In the following camera shots the hubcap is back on. In the end of the car chase Hunter crashes his car, while the hitman drives away, without the above mentioned damage to his car.

29:48 This is a cute little quirk that they have Hunter do frequently. He picks up the phone and talks before he has selected the proper line, so he has to answer twice! I've seen it in a couple other episodes, so obviously they have a list of things they have the characters do to make it seem more realistic. It's a nice touch, actually.

5:37 Why is it that they are always arriving on the scene and the body is just now being bagged up? How long has it been since it was discovered and Hunter and McCall get called in and then actually make an appearance? It seems like they have it lying out in the open for a couple of hours after they discover the scene or something. So are they waiting for homicide to show up before they cart the body away or what?

Milk came in a waxed cardboard carton instead of a plastic jug that leaches estrogen into your body until your man hair falls out. Police officers were people you could talk to when you needed help. Good Lord... I'm so ready for the scrap heap of death... 😢
