It's incredibly common for young kids to form a strong attachment to older siblings/cousins, idk what they were getting so preoccupied about. And it's kinda funny that they're willing to give Ging so much credit when most of Ging's backstory involves him abandoning people lol.

Their discussion about this episode is what I love about HxH. It's not just a ''battle anime''. It also takes it's time to explore and develop characters. It has very well executed build-up for great pay-offs. Moments where Gon is just talking about his aunt Mito are heartwarming. Killua also saying that he has no real goal in life also is very interesting. He's just going to join Gon to find what he really wants in life. That's a far more interesting premise imo than a character that just wants to grow stronger because he's jealous of the main protagonist. That also has it's charm when executed in a fun way. However, I just love how HxH handles it's characters. When I first started it I was afraid Killua would just become the angry rival character.

I like how open minded they seem to be for possible different paths on the journey of these characters. There are some reaction channels out there that just keep whining how they want the story to be at the end goal. Or they aren't as open minded for different paths in the journey, like Greed Island. I'm totally sure Rick, Shane and Aaron will love GI due to their love of video games and with Aaron for Pokémon. They also love board games and card games, so I'm sure they'll love it.

Omg, it's the first time I notice that Ging's dad first shows up in this episode! (which makes sense since it was a "dad" episode lol) I've watched HxH so many times yet it stills surprises me. Great commentary! Also, this is another turning point in Killua and Gon's individual character development. Gon sets his future to be all about his dad, almost thinking that the journey to Ging are obstacles to get ride off. Killua is set on growing, *evolving,* which is something he won't stop doing in the entirety of the anime. His journey is not an obstacle but a tool to evolve.

They caught on to killuas character focus very fast. Just him wanting to find his purpose because he feels like he’s the only one without a true life purpose and he feels like gon could be his life purpose but just wait that changes lol

Gon's dad's name is pronounces "Jing"

The HxH 1999 series implied that Mito had feelings for Ging and changed it so that she is the mother's sister, making her Gon's maternal aunt. On the other hand, HxH 2011 kept truer to the manga by keeping Ging and Mito as first-cousins (their fathers were brothers). Her feelings for Ging in this version is completely up to viewer discretion unless Togashi confirmed that she was in love with him.

Such a wholesome episode

Thanks for not being as mentally challenged as The Normies. Continuously asking ''WHY?!?!?!'' and being confused about Gon not wanting to know about his mom because Mito raised him and that she's his mom in his eyes. The story perfectly explained why Gon was okay with Mito being his ''mom''. Quite realistic actually. I got a cousin that was raised by adoptive parents and she never really wanted to be super connected with her biological parents. She sees her adoptive parents as the people that loved her unconditionally all her life. She doesn't know the biological strangers. I really don't know why those Normies had such a tough time understanding such a thing with Gon. They also just kept mocking it and giggling about it. Very strange how they react to stuff.

Ging was basically Mito's hero and the person she looked up to the most, he was like her big brother who she was very attached to. She probably had a small crush on him but that isn't that rare for kids.

Ging is pronounced the way you would see it in Japanese. The second G is really gu, but the u is softened due to the more western nature/feel of the name. It's harder to mimic in english and they kind of make the g very soft in english because its not meant to be a hard english g.

Detective Calvin is back on! I'm so happy that we're getting to THAT arc. It's going to be so good.

You debate very much and in very detailed manner, so I was hoping you will point out something I've never seen any reactor, reviewer or any other commenter do: Gon not asking about his mom is not only "sweet" towards aunt Mito, but also very unfair towards her. His real mom I mean. She might have a legitimate reason for not being with him,may be alive,, may be dead...but she might be someone who deserved to be respected and remembered about. Maybe she also loved her kid and it is sad that she was not able to raise him ? Why noone is seeing other side of the coin ? Gonn decided his dad is worth being searched for and innocently tought that being a hunter must be something amazing, more amazing than being a dad. When he found him, he didn't want father figure in him,but he was very glad. What about his mom when he knows absolutely nothing about her ? That decision is,for me, showing some of Gon's dark nature, his black-white,childish thinking - "if I like you/need you you're good,if I do not liked/needed you're bad." Aunt and granny couldn't be father figures ,so he decided Ging is the one he needs to pursue and since he has motherly figures,why bother with his mom. If he had uncle,he wouldn't maybe even ask about Ging in the same way and be happy with "he died in the traffic".
