This entire episode is easily my favorite voice acted moment in anime.

If you look back from the very first time when Pitou was introduced, nobody would have even thought to see her in this kind of situation. Begging, on her knees, hands down, broke her own arm, and even willing to brake her other limbs just to fulfill the task that his King gave to her. That is a testament of her dedication and loyalty to the king. Togashi is really amazing for creating such situation and dynamic character development.

In the manga it’s explained that Kite is more of a father figure to Gon then his own father.

One of my favorite episodes in all of HxH. "Go kill Pitou Gon!" Quickly becomes "Oh fuck, please don't kill Pitou Gon" The Ants are slowly becoming human, and Gon is slowly becoming a monster.

We've reached a critical point in the chimera arc, where you can make out the theme. It's the dehumanization of humanity(Netero has to kill the king, Gon loses all sense of logic and sensibility and he is ready to sacrifice an innocent girl in order for him to exact his revenge), while the exact opposite happens with some of the ants(the king acquiring human feelings and instincts and being vulnerable when it comes to Komugi or his insecurities, Pitou, Pouf and Youpi giving their all to their king and Ikalgo and-i keep forgetting the other's name-reminiscing over their memories of being humans and despising the beast they have become). As you're about to witness in the next episodes( until the end of the arc) this theme will become more and more intense.

Megumi Han dug deep for this episode. One of her best performances tbh.

This is why we always recommend sub it's not to insult the dub or anything it's just that Japanese voice actors really really capture the emotions , One Piece Gintama and Hunter x Hunter have some of my favorite voice actors of all time

Pitou has empathy, it just doesn't extend much beyond the king. Out of the guard she is the only one who cares about how the king feels and what the king wants to be. Pouf wants the king to be his idealization of what the king should be and Youpi doesn't really want much beyond guarding the king. Pitou recognizes Komugi's importance to what the king is and wants to be, so she cares about her well-being at least.

Kite to Gon is the reason he wanted to become a hunter. Well inspired him to find Ging. They don’t touch on it, because they skipped it in the show compared to the manga. I know it’s out of left field since it’s like they just met. Just think, this is how Gon feels about Kite. Imagine if something happened to Killua.

I love how Gon's aura is black-and-white know. It really shows how much he is struggling. I can't wait for later.

Gon's voice actress absolutely went above and beyond, what an incredible episode all around.

Remember that Pitou probably doesn't know who Kite is. She doesn't know his name. So she probably thinks Gon wants her to heal a friend of his. She doesn't know he is referring to that guy she fought back then

A lot of people don't realised Pitou didn't know who Kite was. She only knows Kite as the man she murdered not his name. So when she said she could help Gon, she genuinely believes she could help him.

Here we go. The start of Gon's descent into darkness. Love this episode, both because of how simple yet intense it is, and for a stellar performance by both the animators and Megumi Han as Gon. They really went all-out on this one episode, and it paid off.

One of my favorit episodes in any show... its amazing what they did with only talking and body expresions in a single scene.

I think people forget gon is a child. He can’t understand why he can’t revenge as much as he wants to, But killua is kinda more mature so he understands the situation more than gon & is more level headed.

This is easily one of the best voice acting scenes in anime. Gon’s voice is so strong throughout the whole episode.

The impact of Kite in the manga makes way more sense than in the anime. Honestly you guys should read the first chapter of the manga so you can understand better why Kite means so much to Gon.

the example of Zenitsu protecting Nezuko's box because Tanjiro said that it's somethig precious to him it's the exact same situation here, Pitou is displaying a lot of Empathy here by doing whatever she can to protect Komugi, saying that "she is someone important to someone important to me" or even go to the extent of saying "if she dies, the king will cease to be who he is", this diologue is basically telling us that she pretty much noticed the change that Komugi triggered in Meruem's personality, AND SHE IS COMPLETLY OK WITH THAT, she is not like Pouf who is terrified by the idea of the King being empathetic or caring, or Youpi who is just a meathead that just follows orders, Neferpitou is actually the most Empathetic of the 3 Royal Guards. But the reason why some people could think that the situation in Demon Slayer and this one are different it's just because here the one doing it it's one of the antagonists, those people simply want to have an excuse to hate Pitou.

“You have it easy, Killua”. I think what gon means by this is that killua doesn’t have the connection with kite like he does. Not something in the past and stuff like that. If someone important to killua was tortured and had been broken down by an enemy, I think maybe killua would have enraged a bit as well even tho he is more mature than gon.

Out of the royal guard Pitou is THE ant that is showing empathy. She is showing a true capacity to care for Komugi in a way that is beyond just following orders. Empathy does not necessarily mean agreeing with the feelings of others, but being able to be with others in that feeling.

Gon in this episode and erens in levi choice episode are the only two times i got goosebumps from voice acting in anime 💯

I haven't watched this episode in so long but even just hearing a few lines here and there in a reaction vid. where people are talking over the show is still so difficult. Gon is just breaking my heart. And I know that most of the fandom feels more for Pitou and Killua in this ep.but like ... look at him. This is grief and guilt and pain pain pain that no 13 year old should ever have to face. And he feels so alone in it (which is why he said what he said to Killua) and he's so overwhelmed and he doesn't know what to do with any of it. And we see all of that jumbled mess of emotions pouring out of him (represented by the discolored Nen just gushing out of him) because he doesn't know how to process it. Gosh he's just so young and bleeding from every pore and it genuinely breaks my heart.

in this particular scene the roles completely changed gon seems more like a monster than pitou. the author is a genius.

I don’t think Pitou is promising to come with Gon after healing Komugi because she has empathy for Gon. She is promising Gon because if she refuses to make that promise, she doesn’t know what Gon will do to her or Komugi which will prevent her from finishing what the King ordered her to do which was to heal Komugi.

I don't think they have been catching how killua has been feeling about gon in this arc. Gon hasn't been a good friend this arc and killua finally left because he has been trying to help him for so long and gon said it meant nothing to him but it meant a lot more

When you guys say Pitou has no empathy, I think it's a similar perspective to Gon. But personally, I think she has the potential to grow more human, just like the King has through his relationship with Komugi.

I feel for Gon, you can't be perfect in everyone story 'cause in the end ure a villain in someone story, no matter how good of a person you're. Gon is a normal person. He lost a person that finally closed to his father that he searched all along. He can't be accepting it with peace and nor he's turning into Monster. We just witness how impossible a person become perfect in everyone story. Let it out Gon, hell if I'm Gon i will one shot her.

The voice actress for Gon is crazy, Killua's voice actress is good too though. It's a bit funny both these boys are voiced by women, I think it's also 2 women for the English Dub.

if gon had gone through with his attack, not only would've he have killed pitou but he would've certainly killed komgui, which would make him a hypocrite. remember how he got mad at the PT for killing people that had nothing to do with them? gon was gonna do that too. but this really wasn't out of nowhere. gon has always had messed up morals. he does things and makes judgement based on what's good for him and his friends. he hated the PT because they were enemies of his friend. but on the flip side, he trained with a serial killer on greed island and not only didn't he capture him, he let him go with a smile, treating him like a friend. why? because he was useful to himself and killua. but it;s best not to view gon as a hero. he's a hunter and as someone once said, hunters are, above all things, selfish people.
