Hunter X Hunter Manga has always had many strong characters that have surpass human limitations which allows them to go to the Dark Continent based on their strength alone! One of this characters is, Beyond Netero! The son of Isaac Netero. Beyond Netero is one of the only few people who have travel to the dark continent and survive. He is interesting in this land and its creatures, however due to his fathers law, he cannot travel to the dark continent as his forbidden. We explain his 50 year plan which he made specifically to kill his father to be able to travel to the dark continent without restrictions.

I think there are a group of people strong enough to likely survive it consistently (netero, top tier zoldycks) and they get mixed in with the "general population" in terms of survival statistics. There was a surviver to the zobia calamity so I know that you don't have to be the strongest of the strongest in the verse to survive. But I still do think that maha netero and other very strong people who made it back can go and come back consistently without dying. Ps: I am also leaning towards don freeces still being alive

Beyond Netero may have done his father a favor in another way while pushing his agenda. His father's old now but his entirely life he couldn't find an opponent worthy of his full power. This may have been near the last time Issac could truly fight at full strength and die a warrior's death. Maybe that's why Issac Netero was so calm the entire time during his fight. He knew he was going to die

Not only was the ant queen dropped off on the most isolated country in the world but it was also on the exact opposite side of the known world from the country Beyond was in. Making sure his country would be the least responsible for the consequences of whatever the ants did on top of becoming suspicious by proximity.

1:40 Compassion isn’t a word I would necessarily use, considering how Isaac was in charge of the Hunter Exam and we’ve seen how truly BRUTAL that exam was where death was possible (by monsters, not prohibiting contestants from killing each other, and have imprisoned criminals fight for a chance to lessen their sentencing, even a Mass Murderer), but Isaac certainly is a charming and spirited old fellow, fitting for an Enhancer and a compelling character.

Then again. Everything in the hunter exam was voluntary. People knew the risks and went through with it anyway, and the exam had plenty of fail-safes to save a candidate if saving was needed. Isaac was cruel but also kind and compassionate. He had both those things within him.

Tbh ur logic isn’t off. There are greed island cards implying you can even grow a baby and give birth, DUE to the power of nen etc. it’s a greed Island card that allows the user to get pregnant after carrying some stones regardless of gender even. Nen is VERY crazy and can even mess with the fabric of logic in HXH, it’s likely connected to nature as it’s implied many dark continent creatures can use nen aswell not just the chimera ants and humans. And he just confirmed that killua’s sister IS using nen which is cool and gives credence to the connectivity of nen and logic in the universe.

I've had a theory for a while that on the DC time flows much slower than it does on the known world. This would give Togashi a way to time skip Gon and Killua whilst not having to halt the story, explains why Netero was so old (because he spent time there he aged far slower than he would have), and also another reason why Don Freecs could still be alive.

@Josh i think there were always 4 mcs...maybe 5 (with hisoka since the author chose a mc birthday for him ) while the ant arc was killuas and gons adventure ... the dark continent will focus on kurapika, leorio and hisoka. After that who knows .. gyro and gon is a wildcard

One thing that I always had an issue with is satellite 🛰 view of the dark continent. No space satellite has seen it. Big oversight by the writer.

There can be a lot of nen fuckery that keeps it from being visible. That aside all the civilized country's agreed to basically pretend the dark continent doesn't exist. Sending satellites to map the topography might be seen as breaking the treaty.

@@noname-sl7vf none of that is impossible, however I think togashi is a good enough writer to not have that blatant a plot hole. The phone and GPS infrastructure being powered by nen is a cool idea that might well be how it works in HxH. It just seemed to me that they seemed to be technology instead as Gon and Killua, having just learned nen and could see the residue left on objects imbued with it, said nothing when they bought or use their phones. The dark continent being another dimension sounds crazy but we have been told humans can't sail there on our own and need to use the gate keepers so maybe it really do be a whole different dimension. Maybe created or forcefully separated from the known world with some crazy nen feat. I hope we get answers some day, hell it could be as simple as the satellites get stopped by the gatekeeper or all get instantly destroyed just by the nature of the dark continent.

The video breaks down a possibility… first the ants are where one of beyond’s expeditions to the dark continent were, where he discovers them. And he thinks the 18 missing hunters were used in experiments with an ant Queen brought back to one of the countries in secret. And then paris was appointed vice chairman roughly the same time the chimaera ants were released starting the ant season. Again just a possibility but that answers your question.

That’s a good point, but let’s not forget how much Togashi loves utilizing waigers; beyond Netero may not have known for sure if the ant king (Meruem) would be able to outclass his father, but even if he failed, I doubt it would be traced back to him.

Beyond likely discovered something Isaac didn’t think hunters needed or he was scared of therefor declaring trips to the dark continent to be halted. Which in turn if it was something beyond wanted then he would have been plotting day 1 of the ban on how to get back there.
