Thank you for your videos I’ve been looking into hog hunting because they’re a problem where I live and I don’t have any men in my life so I have to learn a lot for myself or go the extra mile to research it. I got a Winchester model 1400 12 gauge and a kel tec sub 2000 that I can use to hunt. But my one question is where is the best spot to hit? because I know you can’t shoot it in the sweet spot of a deer because they have armor plates on their shoulders and is it okay to just leave them for the life cycle after I drop them?
@HuntingwithStu2 жыл бұрын
Best spot is right in the but of the ear or right behind the front leg mate
@Wildwestwrangler Жыл бұрын
Not only that but shooting them in the sweet spot for a deer is bad even on a sow with no armor cause of the fact that a hog heart and lungs sit far forward of where a deer's would be up between the shoulders

I knew you used the British system of shotgun pellet sizes. I never knew what particular sizes meant, but if there are 27 pellets of SSG in a shell, that’s the exact number of pellets of 4Buck in a standard American 2 and 3/4 shell. That’s a good size for coyotes and of course a wide range of pig sizes!
@garyevans34212 жыл бұрын
4 Buck is .24 size and the common 00 Buck is .33 with only 9 pellets in a 2 and 3/4 shell.
@zarkan882 жыл бұрын
@@garyevans3421 I’m confused. What exactly does he use please ?
@garyevans34212 жыл бұрын
@@zarkan88 it’s not a consistent load. Sounds like they’re having trouble getting ammo too. In this clip he says he’s using SSG. I’m guessing domestic production, because that is a British shot size designation. In other clips, he’s using fairly new stuff with a large lead ball loaded with a few smaller.
@zarkan882 жыл бұрын
@@garyevans3421 ok. With my KZfaq experience of hunting pigs I though he would use a slug. Thanks.
@garyevans34212 жыл бұрын
@@zarkan88 yea, big hogs take some penetration. Stu and his mate Steve are trying to control the population for landowners who want them to eliminate as many as they can and pigs come in all sizes. If you watch Stu much, he uses 2 rifles, a scoped 30-06 and a 30-30 lever action, so he doesn’t need slugs out of his shotgun. He’s got that territory covered . He needs a shotgun for the smaller ones that run in the high grass and weeds or when he’s kayaking down the billabong.

Great video. Wild boar is way underrated in terms of wild game. They are lovely! And sadly plentiful. I will be hunting them in Feb 2022. In the USA, we use a lot of military autofeeding rifles. M14s. AR10s. AR15s. 20-30 round magazines with massive ft lbs of energy. Watching your hunt, I noticed the hassle he has racking back that shotgun. It sounds like it hangs up and catches! No doubt that shotgun is tough. But honestly, you might try out a Benelli Super Black Eagle or any number of Waterfowl-designed platforms. Franchi has good ones. Winchester has good ones. Autofeed with a 3-1/2 chamber would take the clunk out of the racking of the shotgun. I need to find an Adler shotgun just to sort out why it is so terrible! I have never heard of those in the USA. Why the lever action? Are auto feed shotguns illegal in Australia?
@HuntingwithStu2 жыл бұрын
Thanks mate yes my Fav hunting game is the Big old Mud crusted Boar. Yes you guys have all firearms covered and yes the lever action is due to restrictions on semi autos. You can get them but heavily restricted and justification is for farmers, pro shooters etc. I am just a recreational shooter. I will look into the super black eagle.

I fuggin hated the poor finish and feel of my Adler. But it just kept going on and on through all the worst that the wet seasons had to offer. It was the "marine" finished model. The coating wore off from my sweat the first day, but it never failed to feed, fire or eject any of the shells it was fed. I don't think it can be beaten from a value for money perspective. It just kept working.

Have you ever had to deal with water snakes or alligators/crocodiles when you're paddling? I think your using #4 buckshot in American gauge size, I use 00bk 8 pellet for hogs here in Texas. Also, are you using any form of hearing protection when you hunt? As a gunsmith it looks like your shotgun needs some internal polishing and a good lubricant to actuate easier.
@HuntingwithStu Жыл бұрын

Excellent video shooting spot on . ? ? How do you butcher them out in the field then transport them back if you in a kayak. 🏴🇬🇧👍 stay safe respect from the Uk
@HuntingwithStu2 жыл бұрын
Thanks mate, we don't take them out as we are there to thin out numbers. Within a week the carcasses are eaten by other pigs, foxes, eagles etc.

Hi Stu ☺ nice shooting mate, the Adler and a handful of SG sure sorts em out, from this video it looks like you can throw em out 50-60 yrds?, loved the bit whith the big red having a drink, and you waving a cold one at it, picture perfect mate, I hope lockdown doesn't restrict you for too long, we've been warned here of another possible lockdown in the Autumn, due to new variant cases rising, it ain't going away anytime soon, if ever. Thanks for the video, stay safe all of ya, best wishe's, Stuart uk.

Thanks mate yes the modified choke and 27 pellet SSGs thorws em a fair distance. I do prefer way closer though. Yes the Delta strain is catching us Aussies out. I reckon everyone getting the jab will help.

Nice shooting. I was wondering what choke you were using. Covid is still with us to this day but as you know by now the cure has turned out to be worse than the disease. Sadly, anyone who watches Aussie TV news would be none the wiser. So many sheep in this wide brown land.

What choke and ammo did you use in the Adler Stu?
@HuntingwithStu Жыл бұрын
Blackhawk ammo 17 pellet SSG using a modified choke mate

@@HuntingwithStu thanks mate. I noticed you are nailing pigs at a reasonable distance with 20” barrel. Hence the question. I use the 28” barrel Adler, sako 85 in 30.06 and the Marlin336s in 30/30. Great combo for pigs 👍

We don't get Adler shotguns in France and it's a shame !!! I am so so jealous ! What's your legal capacity for semi autos in Australia ? Nice video mate !
@HuntingwithStu2 жыл бұрын
Thanks mate, not sure of the legal capacity. I think it depends on the license that the shooter holds ie: farmer or pro shooter.

Have you considered a fabric bag mount style shell catcher so your shells don't get lost in the billabongs and or bush?
@HuntingwithStu2 жыл бұрын
There is a guy sending us a brass catcher yes mate
@millstrive2 жыл бұрын
@@HuntingwithStu Epic, glad to hear it! Might save you some effort, and maybe even allow you to reuse some shells etc.
@HuntingwithStu2 жыл бұрын
I do save probs half of the cases and I reload them but this catcher might allow me to save 100% of cases which will be cool.
