Hey thanks for watching that again and for chiming in. Yep, my dad‘s always been my biggest fan. Just last week he took a day and went and scouted out an old two-track Road I haven’t been up for a while just to make sure I get the horse trailer up it. Thanks again - Robby Denning

This was awesome to watch! It's the true essence of hunting. MOST of the time they may get away, but it just makes the rare successes all the sweeter! I applaud you for grinding it out as long as you could in search of the Big 'n. Good luck in the future!

I recently listened to the Backcountry Hunting Podcast hosted by Joseph von Benedikt where Robby was the guest. I learned some pretty good points there on the podcast as I drove around for my work and some here as well. He definitely is persistent and you have to be for those 200 inch deer even 180s and up. I am from the east in West Virginia, my Dad, my brother and I went on our first western big game hunt last fall. It was a mule deer hunt in Idaho, I didn't have a tag but they did and I went along for the experience. I enjoyed myself and was glad to see my youngest brother get his first ever mule deer buck on the 3rd day. It was an average 3x3 but a pretty sizeable body on him, bigger than the whitetail that we are use to here. A couple miles in on foot, 6800 ft of elevation and1400 vertical feet after a 4 hour stalk and 400 yard shot with his .270 Win, he had his buck that he wouldn't have saw if it didn't stand up from behind sagebrush and some taller brush. I hope to go after my first one in the next year or two and I would gladly take his twin or many of the bucks that veteran hunters pass on like most of the ones in this video. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks for a well produced and informative video. There are several good tidbits of info in there that can be applied by most hunters. I've been following you on Rokslide for several years now, and always enjoyed your day by day hunts and season recaps. More than anything, what your videos have done for me is give me confidence that those bucks are around, even if I'm not seeing them. That confidence has made me slow down and hunt in likely areas and I've had the good fortune to stumble onto my 2 best bucks in 3 years by applying many of your tactics and mindsets. I'll keep tuning in, thanks Robby.

Awesome video, finally a real experience not some canned/setup hunt. Thats what it takes usually to get a true mulie troghy. Some times you gotta have the determination to pass up hundreds of bucks in order to get a true monster. We hunt right through the rifle season with our bows. If i dont get a trophy buck i usually hold out to the last day and harvest a doe for the meat. Im lucky to have hunted idaho back in the days when i could see over 200 mulies a day.

Love seeing a western hunter use some woodsmanship instead of just hiking to highest point and glassing all day. Sometimes you have to hunt the buck down, especially in a high pressure area. There is a time and place for different types of tactics, and the best hunters like Robbie know how to employ them all, and when to do so. Whereas I feel like a lot of other western hunters are more mountain athletes than true woodsman - guys who can hike from one drainage to the next and never seem to get tired climbing glassing tits for days on end. And while this type of stamina and toughness is incredibly impressive in its own right, hunting like that really doesn't necessarily require you know all that much about your quary. What makes guys like Robbie special is they possess both the knowledge, physicality and patience to get the job done in heavily hunted public areas. Truly awesome.
