I travel with The Venice Robbery Team from the Metropolitan Police as we drive around London in the hunt for Watch thieves and l learn that finding these people isn't as easy as it may seem...

Have you seen the videos of Brazilian police on bikes who chase scum like crazy at high speeds - and catch them? Yet these police are nice and cosy in a car going at snail’s pace stuck in traffic. Doesn’t make any sense… 🤔🤦🏻‍♂️

Have to say I disagree I think they should spend less money instead of buying 50k BMWs they should buy 7k Tmax 560s and electric bikes scooters then they could actually catch these thieves

I'm really pleased to see a video like this as a watch lover. I worked in the Police as a Detective and one of the reasons I moved on was that I thought our work was not appreciated - I don't blame the average person in this regard, I blame the media. The people I worked with in the Met were some of the best, most principled and dedicated people I've ever come across. There's so much focus on the odd bad egg, but the vast majority of The Met just want to catch criminals and keep people safe - this should never be lost sight of.

@@MakerInMotionThey are not hesitant. I have several of my family and friends in the police service the problem as they will tell you is knowing who to go after and who to be allowed to go after and to what level - eg harassment is a thing. As in this case you don’t know the criminal until you catch them and even then after their release you don’t know where they are. We don’t have the man power to track convicted criminals. Maybe a system like them being tagged for a year after the offence but once again costly to enforce with little benefits and plenty of get around for them.

Great video Paul. Its easy to feel that London is becoming overrun with street criminals but this video shows just how hard it is for the police to be in all places at the same time and you do sense their frustration, especially when the criminal use modes of transport that are more nimble in such heavy traffic. Must have been amazing when the blue lights went on weaving in and out of cars at speed. You must have been holding on tight

"Moments later, this young moped rider was stopped..." Huh? As in "there we were driving down Shaftesbury Avenue and moments later, there we were in Dunton Road, SE16, opposite Tesco, Old Kent Road...". Incredible. I didn't even notice us crossing the River Thames!

If you intentionally advertise something for theft, someone steals it and is killed by a bus in the chase, you've basically just lured them into a young death. These robbers are scum but they're still kids and no ones ever taught them better, making it harder to commit crimes is the best way to police a community, deterrent means theyll look for something else, theyll have no money and might have to sign on, look for a job, go the right way. No police get hurt, no people get hurt and the crimes don't happen in the first place.

Sadly the general Police presence seems to have dissipated and the criminals are very much in control. Criminality has never been so popular and with little chance of being caught or convicted the situation is only getting worse.

"Looking for anything suspicious" specifically in relation to people on bikes, as they ignore numerous people on bikes running red lights immediately in front of them. Then there's the driving of the police officers who totted up enough points just in this video to be banned. Have the never heard of Stop Lines? Finally, the lesson that they've still failed to learn, don't bring a BMW X to a two wheeled fight unless you deliberately want to waste loads of time & tax payers money while sitting in traffic achieving nothing.

I’ve said it time and time again. The UK judicial system needs a complete overhaul. It’s a great insight to how hard these guys work to protect us only for them to be let down by the CPS. In my eyes any person caught stealing regardless of it being a penny chew or a £30k watch etc should get a minimum of 10 years period.

Two genuine guys who became cops and look after the public. the fact they come across displaying honestly and integrity speaks volumes. These two cops can be a big influence on young kids to be better people simply because they behave better themselves. They ouse the Goodness Of Being Better. They make a difference 👍

U can get it reset in 3rd world countries for around 50 pounds, and after that you can resell it for a tidy sum, alternatively you can do it here in the UK but it costs way more, but profit is still profit for these petty scums at the end of the day

I left London after 14 years. I love London but the knife crime is off the scale!!!!! Once it got close to home, I got out. After two people got stabbed in the head on my high street….it was time for me to call it a day and get out.

Maybe law abiding members of the public who have had training should be allowed to carry the weapons the police carry so they wont be victims and they can actually defend themselves. As opposed to calling the police and waiting an hour for them to turn up, by which time the criminals (who are armed regardless of laws) have left and could be 50 miles away.
