In this video I hunt for comics and other Awesome Anime and Manga related items at the 2021 AnimeNYC Convention. At the end I show you all the cool comic bookd and other stuff I purchased at the con. I had a ton of fun with the Cool kid looking for neat things.

I know they were so beautiful to see in person. I would have bought more of them, but most were pretty low grade or had restoration. I grabed the 2 that I thought looked the nicest.

That they are, I have a number of low grades and one mid grade Strange Tales (#12), and they were like finding hen's teeth in the UK (I found the mid grade, about twenty years ago in a stack of knitting and Woman's Realm magazines at a church bric-a-brac sale, they wanted just £2.00 for it, I gave them a lot more).

I usually know what I am looking for and or have already so I skip over some stuff if it just not that interesting to me. The second vendor had nothing priced so it was a bit frustrating so I did not pull out as much knowing I had to keep asking prices which I hate to do at comic cons.

Yes the Silver Age Superman stuff is great, I will always grab ones i think I need when the price is that cheap.

X-Men #109. I remember reading that issue over a friend's house back in grade school. Vindicator tried to take Wolverine back to Canada by force. It was my 1st X-Men issue I read and it was a very good story.

Yeah I love buying Silver Age Superman, especially when its extra affordable. The Tales Of Suspense comics were amazing.

46:18 Do you know which company produces the clear plastic backer board? Those are ace I have a few issues where there is also back art to display.

Off the top of my head I dont but a quick google search should find them. I think there is 2 companies that make them. They are around $1 each so not cheap but worth it for nice key issues or wrap around covers etc.

24:50 This guy is quite a character. He wants you to "touch, feel, and love" a book. Especially one that "glossy, bro." But I do like that he grades so conservatively and shows you every flaw on that Tales of Suspense. That said, I would definitely grade that higher than a 1.8 despite spine-splitting and a few tears. The cover presents beautifully and I would say at least a 3.0.

Haha I want to touch old books like that it gives you so much info on its condition lol. I wish he had prices on everything though I hate having to ask prices over and over.

@@pop-comics Yeah, of course. I love the feel of a comic book cover. Especially an old one that is still glossy. But yeah, I was surprised nothing was priced and usually any time dealers don't price it's a little sus. That said, at least he knew the comics and wasn't looking up everything on his phone to give you the absolute highest current price he could find.

@@saintsataniko2116 Yes lack of pricing is always sus to me, I was gonna film all his comics since there were only 2 comic dealers at the con, so I figures id ask the price on a few, the first few seemed high but eventually he quoted some prices I was happy with. The thing is if things were priced similarly I probably would have spend a ton more on his comics, I just hate having to keep on asking.

$50 for a day $75 for 3 days for this con, great deal on the 3 day pass.

How do you easily know if the comics is worth buying?

I have many methods I use. 1) I know the values of some series or comics books so if I see one of those comics and I see they priced it fairly then I know most of the comics are probably priced fairly, if the price is overpriced then I know most of the comics are probably overpriced. 2) if I dont know and its something I want I ask the vendor questions, what grade do you think its in, how did you determine the price. I sometimes have them show me how they did it etc. 3) I know how much I have paid for comics on ebay and how much I bid and lost etc, so if I see things I bid in I already know how much its worth. I am sure there are other things I do that are instinctive with buying and selling. With time these things come to you naturally.

Silver Age Marvel I think is in more demand in general so prices are higher to begin with and if it sells better for a dealer they may push the price above market to see what they get. Eitherway I love being able to collect Silver Age DC for cheap.
