Hog hunting from a boat is a pretty common thing to do here along the Alabama river's and marsh systems and after coming across numerous pigs while out on the water I decided it was finally time to harvest one and bring home the bacon! So I hit up a buddy that has the perfect setup boat combined with a mud motor to squeeze in places that most can't get too and dropped one 2 hours into the hunt! This was definitely a fun experience and hope to be able to do it again soon so y'all let me know if ya wanna see more of this kind of stuff.

I like the pork popper idea. Try this on your backstop. Remove the silver skin cut into about 6-8" section then filet the back open making a big sheet. Pound it out then cover with thin layer of mustard, any kind of prepared mustard. Then put a good bacon on the inside, thinly slice vegetables and lay on the bacon. Also put some fruit on the inside, roll it up tie it into a roast. Then brown in an iron skillet. Place in over about 325 and bake until your desired internal temp. Nice video!

It's kick butt, Brown in a pan and try not to overcook. You might partially cook the bacon if you have an aversion to pork fat.

Great hunting. Maybe you could get a small 12V wench and make a mount that you can configure for quick removal of wench when it is not needed. It is also amazing how similar the landscape is to what can be found in Florida.

My wife bought me my first 30-06, a brand new 7400. Beautiful gun but I never was able to get satisfactory groups and traded it (at her suggestion) for a tack driving A-Bolt 30-06. Killed my first buck with dad’s model 742 which we called the “hang-a-matic” or “scattermatic”.

I love Alabama. My brother was born there. We lived on a cattle ranch that seemed like it was in the middle of Montgomery. They raised Hereford cattle. My Dad exercised his race horses. I’m wondering if that ranch is still there. There was a horse track on the property. This was around 1967

I live in North Mobile County. Escatavpwa upper end. They are really heavy here in the river bottoms and swamps . It's almost impossible to raise a garden without it getting rooted up. It's an up hill battle.

@@CaptCollier had a little luck with a few. Most farms are small less than 100 acres. Spread out they hit one place ravage it and move to the next. Corn works fair but they seem to prefer fresh vegetables too this time of year it's potatoes. I think the biggest problem is people not working together

I used to Duck hunt big time back in the 70's and loved it. Done a lot of Red fishing also. I lived by lake Sabine in SE Texas.

Great video mate! The cooking was a good side of the hunting lifestyle. In Aussie land we can't eat feral pigs anymore. We used to export them to Germany. But now they are full of worms and tuberculosis.

I own a lot of rifle calibers, but I always seem to grab a 30-06. I actually have 3 of them. Two bolt actions and one semi-auto.

Nothin like a good tenderloin biscuit , when I was a young man we would stop at a hole in the wall store on the way deer hunting and grab a couple , 0 dark thirty in tha mornin oh man they were good ,that was fifty years ago or more ….. Road by where the old store stood a couple years ago , guess it fell in on itself several years back not much left now but an overgrown parking lot and the foundation …. Thanks for bringing back the memories …

Pig's handle mud and very soft stuff because of they're hoof. The split hoof spreads wider making for more surface area an wedges into the sides of the holes as well. And they come out easily because the hoof becomes smaller. Same as a Camel in the sand.

I never ate wild pig meat living in Pa. I did live in NC for a year and hunted but never saw a pig. Is it better for you? Does it taste wild from eating natural food? I helped a friend with his pigs and dragging a pig is harder than dragging a deer. It's like a solid weight that has more friction than a deer. I was amazed.

I used to have a 7400 Rem 30/06 Semi Auto/Single Shot LOL. Remmington couldn't fix it. Glad yours works!

Its predecessor, the 742, was far worse about hanging up. My 7400 never hung up but it wouldn’t group.

@@oldcodger4371 HaHa. Dad got rid of his hang-a-mastic 742 and got a model 70. My son has it now. That is the hardest kicking rifle I have ever shot. I believe it is a lightweight model 70.

@@JT_70 You shootin 220 grain bear loads or something? Yea that will bump a little bit. I used 150-180for deer hunting. Hardly any recoil at all.

@@oldcodger4371 Nah, I think he preferred 180s. I shoot 150s in my A-Bolt, which has a mild recoil. I loved the accuracy of the 70 but hated its recoil.

I hope everyone appreciates what a blessing this is to have an invasive species that not only can you eat but is way healthier than eating pork from the USDA market place. With all the people in our community struggling to feed their families, sharing this blessing with family and friends instead of indiscriminate killings to let the meat rot or feed the scavengers. Back in the day there was 60 million Bison roaming free, an endless regenerating river of food free for the taking. But we all know how that turned out and now we paid $10 a pound for USDA. Respect the blessings and keep them perpetual.👍

He doesn’t run guided pig hunts, just fishing trips. I imagine it’s too much liability bringing people who may not have experience with rifles shooting out of a boat.
