I bought my 1978 1/2 FXS 2F79068H8 new in July 1978. Didn't own a car. Rode it everywhere while in the Navy. Willis G did a good job except for the original drag bars.

Love all your videos. If I lived in the US and near you so that you could do my maintenance, I'd buy and ride one of these oldies from you. Thanks for making all your videos. They will be a valuable resource to new collectors long after you've stopped making them. Watch your likes and views rise 5 years from now. You're the only one doing in depth videos of these EVO and older bikes.

Hi Todd, love this channel!!! The blue FXS in this vis, i recognise all the parts, i built mine from the ground up and it runs a treat, ...with one or two mods!! You mentioned Harley went 1340 in '78??? Mine is '79, every time i order parts im asked if its early '79 or late '79 because that was the trasition perioud, i think mine is one of the very first 1340 Shovels as a good friend of mine has a 1200 Shovel and they are only 900 engine numbers apart. Your knowlage wouls be apreciated. Dusty, Norfolk, UK.

hey mate ive got a 1981 fxs that was bought new with a 16 inch front wheel i cant seem to find another one like it, was a 16in front an option at that time?
@HuntingHarleys7 жыл бұрын
technically no, most likely the dealer put it on after someone wrecked it. a 16 does not even fit through the stock fork!

With the 1978 lowrider, was it made with the kickstart originally? Having mine worked on now and he says the kickstart was added afterwards so it's not original
@HuntingHarleys5 жыл бұрын
All, absolutely each and every one came with a kick start. All FXE's and FLH's made during the years the FXS was made, late 77 to 84, did not come with a kick start. An FLH styled machine called an FLHS that came out in 81 had a kick start new.

@HuntingHarleys My father passed down his 78 FXS Lowrider to me and im slowly learning how to work on this machine. This bike is so bad ass. My issue is I need to tear down the bike this winter, clean it up (caked on oil) Any suggestions on getting the tachometer to work? When tach is connected, the bike wont start. Disconnect the tach and it runs fine. Super strange since there is no ECM or any computer what so ever on this bike.

Seriously good question. Why on earth do all newer bikes sport ridiculously large OD exhaust pipes? I've always preferred 1-3/4 exhaust. Where, why and when on earth did this whole coffee can exhaust crap start. I've got an Evo with huge exhaust that I plan to weld up a smaller OD set for. Steller work on the videos man.
