Welcome to the Huntington Mall located in Barboursville, WV. The Huntington Mall opened in 1981 with JCPenney, Sears, Lazarus, and Stone and Thomas as anchors. In 1990 Phar-Mor was added to the mall. In 1998 Stone and Thomas was converted into Elder Beerman. In 1999 Borders, Old Navy, Steve and Barrys, and Dawahares was added to the mall. The Big Loafer has been in the mall since '81, I believe. Strange, since it's not a big, famous chain and I've never heard of anyone going there. This mall is the center of activity in the Huntington area...Huntington itself is mostly dead.

I have lots of memories of this mall when I was a kid. I moved away in 2004, but I had not doubts that this mall would still be thriving today. To this day, this mall has never dropped below 90% occupancy. The aesthetic has changed quite a bit, I must say And it's a little sad to see The Disney Store sitting empty

On the inside, it looks nothing like it did in the 80s and 90s. A totally different interior from floor to ceiling.

Dave and Buster's plans on opening. Edit: Just saw that the Sears building is under construction to become a school currently. Which is kinda interesting because lots of Sears stores are later redeveloped into schools.

The Sears at this mall was the biggest volume store in district 262 in the 90’s. This included stores in Asheville 1185 Knoxville and Chattanooga. 30 million or so volume in 98.

I'm surprised Billy Bob's is still there. In the 90s it was essentially derelict. Local kids would drop by there to merely play arcade games...and it was always empty and the animatronics were in a state of disrepair.

@@warrenkec374 Cool. Amazing that a business like that has survived for around 34 years there. Traffic in that little strip mall must have really picked up since the 90s.
