The Dry Land traverses the liminal space between the living and the dead by lifting the veil of the abyss itself. Born of suffering and hardship, the Chicago post-doom/Americana outfit unifies the dark and light that resides in all of us through allegories of purgatorial strife and human spirit. The songs are meticulously constructed, building from its acoustic roots, layering distortion and textures to reach mighty crescendos.

I have been listening to this album several times since it came out a couple of weeks ago. So far, it's the best album I've heard in 2024, and it's my favorite Huntsmen album. It's got a great blend of so many styles, and the songwriting is spectacular. But it's really the spirit of the album that makes it so great. There's a sincerity, and a vulnerability that comes through. The entire band really beared their soul on this one. There are a lot of types of heavy music. But this one is emotionally heavy. It really moved me, which is pretty rare these days.
