History, construction and operations of the Port Huon Pulp Mill. Also includes footage of mill employee homes in Geeveston, construction of the Hydro-Electric Commission dam at Rileys Creek, ‘Kirribilli’ docked at Port Huon and management of Eucalypt forests in the Huon Valley.

Those puny sticks at 5.55 are only good for pulping. Yeah right. loving the cute, everything is awesome, music as they reduce an old-growth forest and its biodiversity to pellets. Our deforestation of the last few thousand years has been truly epic and continues at a global rate of over 20 acres a minute. When we lose forest we lose biodiversity and, coincidentally, we are also in the middle of the 6th, and largest, major species extinction event in the history of life on earth. In all previous events the more complex organisms went to the wall. This time that's us, unless we can replant the overcoat of forest clearly vital to all life on this planet.

@U Rat Fortunately we're learning but our forestry commissions are still inclined towards this sort of thinking. I don't know if it's different in B.C. but here we have some of the finest regulatory authorities money can buy. We're starting to show the economic superiority of real forests and forestry, indeed the superior economics of sustainable practice generally so, with any luck, we'll own them soon.

Short sighted fools, greed knows no bounds, let's completely decimate the beautiful old growth forests and ruin the environment permanently. If only I had a time machine.

Not completely. Plenty of the profits went into paper bags (full of cash) for both Labor and Liberal pollies. Tasmania has no Crime or Corruption Commission. The corruption is quite obvious and unashamed.
