Hurricane Beryl breaks Records and Forecasts

Hurricane Beryl left behind more than a trail of destruction in the Windward Islands - a pile of shattered records also lies in its wake.
Beryl became one of the strongest June hurricanes on record, before strengthening further as we entered July and becoming the strongest July storm on record, and the earliest July Category 5. As Beryl struck the Windward Islands, the Grenadines experienced their strongest landfall impact on record when Beryl reached Carricou island with winds near 150 miles per hour.
Beryl then intensified further and became one of the furthest south Category 5s on record, and is now headed for Jamaica where it could rival Hurricane Gilbert for the strongest landfall on that island, too.

now it passed july on Record Hurricane Emily in 2005 with wind speed 160 MPH.

Better to slightly overestimate a hurricane than to grossly underestimate it and get people killed!

recon actually confirmed 175 mph

recon aircraft confirmed 175 but it was in between the scheduled advisories and it was brief.

recon recorded winds this morning near 5 am AST of *165 flight level winds and 160 knot surface winds* , it was atleast 175 mph at peak but even could make a case for 180 mph!

1:01 *Memorizing Imagery here* AN absolute monster that the people of the Grenadine islands will never forget. Also a hurricane that all weather enthusiasts wont forget for breaking so many records such as earliest cat 4 and cat 5 on record!! Beryl is clearly weakening right now but I hope it weakens even faster and spares Jamaica a major hurricane landfall tomorrow! 😌

jamaica is likely getting major hurricane landfall though, it is doing an ERWC at the time of this reply which could either make it stall its weakening or strengthen it, but i agree jamaica shouldve been spared
