I used to live in St. Vincent and lived through a cat 1 hurricane. That storm caused a massive amount of damage and I can't imagine what type of destruction a cat 4 storm will cause.

Hurricane Maria surviver here ! It was a category 5 , 155 + plus mph winds, the ground I stood on trembled , my mom's house where we were sheltering, felt like it was going to take off into the eye ! I don't wish to anyone else, to go through this experience, it is one of mother nature's most violent and frightening phenomenon any human can experience ! My prayers will always be for those who have to experience it ! God bless, and much peace ✌️ !

They are down playing the Storm due to July 4 holiday?

I use to live in Tortola in The B.V.I.'S from 1974 till 1980. In the Cane Garden Bay and Little Apple Bay part of the island. The Hodge family in Cane Garden Bay. Stanleys beach bar restuarant on the beach with that classic swinging truck tire hanging off a big Coconut palm tree was always a great spot.m right in front on the beach at Stanleys We had our 40' sailboat called the Tioga anchored in Cane Garden Bay plenty, when the swell got big we would have to anchor way inside the cove. Sometimes when that big getting your dingy into Stanleys could be a task with 3 to 6 sand bottom shore break but fun. The point at Cane Garden Bay would be going off. But the point is fire coral and shallow so you need to be careful and on your game. The Bomba Shack parties in Little Apple Bay, another good surf spot to. All the Wooden sailboat races sailing around Yost Van Dyke are always a blast. Have know idea if their still happening in this day and age, but i certainly hope so. Sailed and surfed the whole S.E. Island chain to Barbado's. Still a very beautiful part of the World. But i can't complain living in Bali now for my ending years. Peace up. 🌴✌️🏄‍♂️🏄‍♂️🏄‍♂️🏄‍♂️✌️🌴
