The Waratah was not meant for the luxury like the Titanic was meant for it was more for people traveling to New York and to Australia for a new life, so mostly third class passengers but also some second class passengers as well so that not being fancy makes sense

The late author Clive Cussler wrote a short story about this. If memory serves, the book is "Sea Hunters II" The book tell about shipwrecks and the searches for them, many of the searches were conducted and funded by Mr Cussler himself. It's a fascinating read. That man's life was as colorful as his writing. I only knew him from his works.

As the SS Waratah was known to be both a cargo and passenger ship...one of the theories was that cargo shifted and resulted in a list and that it would've taken a small storm or wave to capsize the ship...it disappeared with everyone on board and the wreck still hasn't been found
