Lived on St Thomas for more than 30 years. Remembering Marilyn, Luie and Bertha all in one year. 😱 The waterfront was really a mess with large boats pushed up on the waterfront. All the shops destroyed with water damage. Hardly anyone had a roof. No electric for 3 months. Only got water once a day when the landlord would run the generator ( and some people didn't even have that). Standing in long lines for food. Hotel closed, so no job . Crazy times. But people pulled together and helped each other out. That part of it was awesome. 🌴🤗

This just breaks my heart. I was there a week or two before the bad weather hit. It is one of the most lovely places I ever visited. I pray you all are able to get the help you need to rebuild. God bless.

It's a beautiful place, even with all the destruction I can not help but admire, one day I still want to live there!

I still live here. I was one of the lucky ones. My roof stayed intact, but a tree smashed into my house cracking a wall. I suffered injuries barricading the compromised window, and all the subsequent cleanup. 94 days with no power or running water. It was only last two weeks that I got the gumption to leave and head to California for a short break with my dog who saved my life in Irma. During those times, I could not bring myself to leave my home and see the devastation. It was just too overwhelming. I went nowhere for three weeks after the storms. My deck looks over Charlotte Amalie harbor, and each day I would watch the evacuations, the helicopters, the floating hospital. There wasn't any way to leave other than the mercy ships, and I was just immobilized mentally. I just didn't know what to do. All I could think of was I had to clean up, clean up, clean up. Try and create some sense of normality. It was pretty futile. These storms not only destroyed possessions, they destroyed spirits. Yes, there is resilience. Yes, there is rebound. But we remain fractured. We remain vulnerable. We remain traumatized. I doubt I'll ever be the same again, and I'm sure I speak for others too. It was mind numbing. Mother Nature replenishes. She is doing amazing work right now on the islands. We are green. We are blooming. I already see flowers on the avocado trees, which worries me because as locals say, when trees bear a lot of fruit, and early, it is a sign of weather to come. And that is how it was last year. An abundance beyond belief of mangoes, avocadoes, coconuts. Man can rebuild. Sure. But Mother Nature rules. I pray she is kind to us this year. We just cannot take another hit. Our islands are fragile, wounded. And so are we. Thanks for this video. I am only now able to look at these and feel I must to try and get through this trauma, face it head on. Bless

This breaks my heart. Used to live there. Last time there was in 1994 to settle my mom's house after she passed. Her house was destroyed in Hugo. But this is much worse in so many ways.

Hi there. I am working on a documentary project at ABC News and am interested in using your footage of hurricane damage from Irma and Maria. What would be the best way to contact you about this? Thanks!
