iCyclone's Hurricane Harvey Chase: Terrifying footage from the violent inner core of Category-4 Harvey at "Ground Zero"-- the small Texas town of Rockport.

Wow. What a powerful video! Once again , you nailed it. Glad you were safe. I like how you don't add any music to your video and you try to remain quiet during the most extreme parts. Makes us feel like we are there , experiencing it alone!
@iCyclone6 жыл бұрын
Thank you so much for saying that-- because that's exactly what I try to do. I want the storm to "speak for itself"-- meaning I try not to over-narrate, react too much, or add dramatic music. (I'll admit sometimes it's hard not to react in the moment!) Anyhoo, thank you for noticing my stylistic choices. Glad you liked it. :)

I live in Corpus Christi which is about an hour north from rockport. We still got pretty intense winds but corpus was well prepared. Couldn’t say the same about rockport tho. I went with my church to rockport to help clean up damage for a man the church knew. Mobile homes flipped over and even destroyed completely, an apartment complex was completely leveled, you name it. By far one of the biggest storms ever. Almost 2 years ago already. Boy time flies.

I remember Harvey like it was yesterday. Had to evacuate to Laredo, and we were lucky to come back to my house with only minor damage, but we lost power for a week. At the hotel we were at in Laredo, we were talking to a girl from Rockport just a few hours before landfall. Thinking of that still pains me to this day. The damage in Rockport, Port Aransas, Lamar, Holiday Beach, and Refugio was almost Katrina-like. Texas is a strong state and we’re lucky to have recovered quickly, people have said if Harvey hit any other state, the impact would have been much more devastating.

From looking at the radar loop and great video, Rockport was in the Very intense Northwest eyewall. Recently enhanced definition satellite loops have now identified smaller Very intense meso vortices rotating around the eye in intense hurricanes which probably accounts for the Cat. 4 damage.
