Praying for mercy, I can understand that. Your god has already chosen to imperil all these people and their property, and you are praying to that god for mercy. But praying to protect his children is not logically consistent. The same lord that caused the hurricane putting them in danger is the one you are asking to protect them.

I think about that too. The FL population has grown so much. I hope they have the infrastructure to handle this. So many basic systems will be destroyed. When Laura hit the Lake Charles, La area a few years ago, it was a strong cat 4 and the destruction was beyond words. There was nothing left in Sulphur. The whole electrical grid was gone. I hope that doesn't happen to FL but I fear it will.

I agree that he should have evacuated, but it was not predicted to be a cat 4 hurricane when he decided to stay. Until this morning at about 6am, it was not known to be increasing to cat 4 strength. And at that point, he had two options: stay, or hope he could find and get into an official shelter far enough from the coast to ride out the storm in a safer way (and avoid traffic jams and other issues trying to get there in the 3-4 hours max he had)

LJ what you fail to realize is what comes in has to go out. The water came in via the hurricane and recedes back to the ocean or lakes and rivers. You clearly have it backwards.

The water receded from Tampa Bay as the hurricane approached land, then once the hurricane was over land, the water came rushing back in. The dome of water built up under the hurricane had to come from somewhere, and partially it was Tampa Bay.
