Sad destruction from Hurricane Ian of these two super rare muscle cars: the 1969 Daytona Charger (1 of 503 made) the 1970 Plymouth Superbird (1 of 1935 made). Got a chance to talk with Mike the owner about what happened. Thankfully he was okay and I’m sure they will be restored back to their original glory! Super cool guy and he even has a couple more including one he got brand new when he was 16!

@@grdragonslayer most people never imagine but the storm surge warning was 12’-16’, he knows his elevation with it being a newer house and flood elevation cert for insurance. Just the risk he took leaving them. I live by the water and expected the same if it was to hit the Tampa Bay Area. Unfortunately Anything left under that 12’-16’ storm surge level would be at risk. Setting aside the tragic loss for thousands of people, yes they will be restored. NO, they won't have salvage titles, as high-value collector cars over 50yrs old would be exempt from that. They're not everyday drivers or even in the same category as say a 70 Camaro or Mustang. High end collector cars are 'usually' insured through highly reputable collector car insurance companies/policies. In short here, he'll have less issue fixing the cars than the property/house. You had a heads up long before this storm was going to hit!! You couldn't have grabbed a couple peeps and possibly pay them to drive them out of harm's way up north?! So sad to see these cars wrecked like this when it could have been prevented!

Maybe he could try lifting the one with ballasts on the one side and pull it once and if he can get it up high enough.

Uh, leaving those cars there was the height of arrogance, stupidly and plane ignorance. Glad he is safe, but DAMN DUDE. That was stupid. Smells like an insurance scam to me, he had plenty of time to get them out of hams way and just didn't. Those cars deserved more that that. They are worth more than enough to warrant repairs, the will not be totaled. Hope the next owners have more brains.
